Popular R&B singer Sisqo faces charges that he shot at a car from the porch of his Randallstown home and resisted arrest by Baltimore County police.
The 27-year-old singer - whose legal name is Mark A. Andrews - was arrested Saturday at his house in the first block of and charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
A man visiting a neighbor told police that a man started firing at his car while he was sitting inside the vehicle about 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Officers said they found two 9 mm shell casings on Andrews' front porch and a bullet in his foyer, according to police reports.
Andrews initially told police that he was in his basement recording studio and had not fired the weapon. However, when a crime technician tested the singer's hands for gunshot residue, he told her he had fired the gun, according to police reports.
Police said no one was injured in the shooting.
The singer's publicist, Courtney Barnes, said yesterday that Andrews would not comment on his arrest.
Sisqo, who got his start performing at the Fudgery at Harborplace, has reunited with Dru Hill - the band that launched his career. He also had a successful solo career that included the 2000 hit "Thong Song." He had his own dance show on MTV called Sisqo's Shakedown and appeared in movies alongside Kirsten Dunst and Cuba Gooding Jr.
A neighbor told officers he had heard the shots but didn't think much of it because Andrews has fired his gun several other times, according to police reports.
Andrews' friend, Tera Nikki Thomas, 27, of Northern Virginia, allegedly told police that the singer fired the shots from the front door and then returned inside. Police said Thomas told them that people have been making threats against Andrews and that he had a right to defend himself.
The officers said in their reports that when they tried to explain that citizens can't shoot at people and began to handcuff the singer, Thomas pushed and threatened to "get" one of the officers. Thomas was arrested on charges of assault and resisting arrest.
Andrews and Thomas were released on bail, court records show. No court date has been set.
I got it from Sunspot.net.
I modified it because it states his street name. If you have already seen it, oh well. I just don't want any stalkers to try to find him lol!
