Hey ya'll! I just wanna know if anyone agrees with me on this... I know that the neptunes produced Kelis' Milkshake and Jay-Z's Change Clothes...and I was just wondering does anybody hear a "Prince" type of vibe in those beats? The younger ones may not know what I'm talking about....but hey ya neva know! lol  |

Since i'm not young i can reply heeeheee! Anyway, the story behind the "Prince" sound 2 the neptunes songs is, Pharrell made the song "Frontin " 4 Prince. Their people constantly tried 2 contact Prince about it so he can do the song and got no reply...  . It was kinda sad cause Pharrell was like i know at least 1 of those messages got 2 him. So since they got no reply Pharrell did the song himself. Pharrell is a real Prince freak!! Not unlike myself!!! I loves me some Prince Yall!!!! |

Prince is a musical genius!! My sister and one of my closest friends is a Prince fanatic so I grew up on him. Not to mention my fiance is an avid "fan" of his too.
He's a private person and maybe he felt doing a Neptunes song was too mainstream for him and he's not in it for that anymore. He's just doing what he loves in moderation for the "family" that he has.
Did you know that he hates the word fan because it's short for fanatic. Remember what Nokio said about fans...it was the same thing.

I know EXACTLY what you're talkin' about adrufan!  But the one song that really reminds me of a Prince tune is Kelis' song "I Want Your Love" from her first CD, Kaleidoscope that the Neptunes produced. I have always loved Prince and I'm glad that he's finally bein' inducted into the 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. My man deserves it for all the great music he's bestowed upon his loyal listeners through the years!  |
