THE QUEEN'S NEW MOVIE STEAM: And new song recounting painful childhood events. (Oct. 21, 2003) *Grammy Award winning rap mama Queen Latifah is in LA filming a role as a cab driver opposite Saturday Night Live's Jimmy Fallon in the film remake of "Taxi."
In addition to that lowdown, Latifah has seven films slated to hit theaters within the next year. They are: "Scary Movie 3," "Barbershop 2," the previously mentioned "Taxi," "Beauty Parlor (Shop)," "Bad Girls" with Jada Pinkett Smith, "My Wife Is A Gangsta," and "Cookout," a film the star is producing.
Recently Latifah shared some of the details of her forthcoming rap album with New York's Daily News. One of the more touching songs is "The World," which is semi-autobiographical.
"The first verse is autobiographical, talking about how I was molested as a child. I didn't know how to tell my parents and it really messed with me emotionally and in terms of my ideas of sexuality," said Latifah. "I had parents who explained these things to me, but it happens to you at 5 years old, you can't seem to get it out of your mouth, like, 'Hey, this guy did this me.' You know?" EURweb.comThe Queen is one busy woman, and I can't WAIT to catch all of these movies and get her CD as well. ;D But what's really goin' on with how some sick people in the world can mess with some of our lives?! However, I'm glad that she's able to face her past and put it in a song which I'm sure will touch a lot of her fans. Keep givin' it to 'em, Queen!
