Elektra.com Angie Newsletter:
--> Hip hop's superwoman Angie Martinez can now add mother to her long list of accomplishments after giving birth to her son Niko in June. Martinez would like to thank fans for all their positive messages left on her message board while she has been away and promises that she will be back soon and better than ever!
Blender magazine article:
Angie Martinez plans on releasing her third album, entitled Lasting Impressions, early next year as what she says will be her goodbye present to her fans. Martinez plans to leave the hip hop world & possibly even her post as New York's reigning radio diva to raise her child.
"Being a mother is the greatest feeling in the world", says Martinez, 29. "I couldn't imagine leaving my baby's side, its so hard to do!" giggles Martinez as she kisses her son Niko on the forehead. Angie told us that though she is no longer with the baby's father (whom she admitted to us was Nokio of Dru Hill), they are still good friends. "I don't need a man right now, I have the man of my dreams in my child and hes all I have time for right now."
Martinez, who has already completed tracks with artists such as Jadakiss, Jay-Z, Eric Clapton, Lil Mo & Lil Kim and producers such as Scott Storch, The Track Masterz, RocWilder & Salaam Remi says she is looking forward to getting back in the studio in January. According to an A&R rep at her label, Elektra, Angie will be hitting the studio with Fat Joe, 50 Cent, Carl Thomas & Lumidee on the artistic side, and The Neptunes, Kanye West & Timbaland on the production side.
Elektra says they plan on beginning promotion for the album in December and releasing it in late February.
::Sound of cork poppin' off of champagne bottle along with off-key singin':: Ceeeeeeeeeeeeeelebrate good times, c'mon! Ok...that wasn't nice, but I couldn't help myself!
Anyway, although I have her first CD ("Do Thangs" used to be the joint!), I haven't bothered to buy her last one. But this one sounds like it may be aight. I may have to check it out when it's released.
