Nintendo of America recently initiated a new price cut for their poor-selling GameCube hardware down to a low price of $99.99. After a pitiful performance of selling only 15,000 in September and August combined, gamers around the country have shown that they really do want a GameCube. The GameCube's sales have quadrupled since last month. It outsold the Playstation 2 by a margin of 20% and the Xbox by 145%. Total sales numbers are as follows:
GameCube: 64,405 PS2: 53,834 Xbox: 26,290
This currently puts Nintendo as the top hardware distributor in the country with the three best-selling units in the country--Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance SP, and GameBoy Advance. Props to Nintendo.
With hit-titles like Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Viewtiful Joe, Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, Soul Calibur II, plus much more on shelves this holiday season, keeping a lock on this shouldn't be a problem at all. Additionally, the recently announced Zelda Collector's Edition Disc will be bundled free with GameCube's this winter season (Inlcudes Legend of Zelda, Legend of Zelda II, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, plus The Wind Waker demo).
Definitely time to pick up a GameCube. For the price of an Xbox, Playstation 2, or N-gage, you can get both the amazing Game Boy Advance SP and sleek Nintendo GameCube. C'mon. You know you want to! ;D
