As announced by Sony at this year's E3, Sony has plans to release the PSP: Play Station Portable. Soon after it was announced, Nintendo stocks dropped 9% in Japan, and as of now, they have dropped a total of 15%. Well, the statistics which were revealed completely blow the GBA away. However, this article looks deeply into the outrageous claims of Sony concerning its PSP, which until this point, noone questioned... www.insertcredit.com/news/e3_2003/sonypsp/index.html

Who knows if this will be a success or a failure? That was a portable Pstone for like 79 bucks in Canada. It was the same size of like a labtop. The system itself is doing good but it may end up like the Game gear. Like I said b4, who knows? We just have to wait and see.

Sony actually released a handheld gaming item (more like Giga Pets or Tamagachi (sp?)) exclusively in Japan... and it failed like WHOA. Nintendo has enough time to secure its grasp on the handheld industry before Sony starts to prepare for its jump into the market. Whether or not they will take advantage of it, I have no idea. They seem to be stubborn when it comes to the handheld industry, thinking the PSP will fail just as Neo Geo, Game Gear, Wonderswan, etc... I highly doubt it though. PSP has a name to go with it, Playstation. This could very well be the N64 days all over again...

The Game Gear only lost popular. It really didn't fail like ... a Turbo Graphic 16 <--Remember that?! I think the reason that Sega dropped the game gear because compared to the game boy, it was bigger and it had some other flaws in it. As for the Tamagachi, that did amazingly in Japan. Everyone had one. Whoever came out with the idea made a quick million dollars.
Well Sony can take a stab at the handheld world. Lots of people own a playstation and love the games. They could revoultionize the hand held world. Instead of a cartridge, have a mini cd to load games. See? Even Nintendo is getting worried if their stocks dropped and they only announced it. They may not even realease it this year. Sega is still secured by making arcade games which brings in over 18.8 billion yen ($161 million). Plus they may not realease a hand held gaming console. As for nintendo... well, I'll just leave it at that.

The Sony handheld wasn't a Tamagachi, it just had graphics capabilities equal to that of the Tamagachi. Here's a picture: It sold only in Japan and was for a few small mini games you could play by connecting it to the PSX and only with certain games. Nintendo has enough profits, over 2 billion in savings, to prepare themselves for the PSP, but they won't Thing is... Nintendo's GameBoy is going to have to take the step in the direction of using the disc format instead of the cartridge. And once they do, they lose all of their old gaming library. So, they will be starting from the ground up, just like Sony is going to. They have no gain over them at all. Unless they released some sort of peripheral add-on which allowed to play your old cartridge games, but that would do them no good if it didn't come free with the Disc GB or directly installed in the GB. The PSP is slated for a Q4 release, just in time for the holiday season. They plan to ship over 10 million PSPs to retailers nation-wide in their first fiscal year. Quite a large number...

It reminds me of that Pikachu toy that came out. Well it was like a Tamagachi. Well if the console doesn't work, Sony always has other things to sell. So they're not really worried if this fails or not.
