Rampant rumors have been going around the net lately about a possible Nintendo - Microsoft partnership.
IGN Cube recently reported this in their N-Query:
"I hate to lend credit to this ongoing rumor, too, but I figure I can't ignore it. At least one industry insider I spoke with brought up the whole Microsoft/Nintendo union; apparently Microsoft -- more than Nintendo -- is interested in some kind of partnership.
There are a few other smaller bits here and there, but I don't feel comfortable posting them yet. Note that while I do trust my sources on this information (they've come through dozens of times in the past), it's still so early on that anything can happen."
Other sites like NewTechnix.com says that numerous sources in Microsoft are really looking to find a possible future with Nintendo. It apparently so inflammed that even Denis Dyack of Silicon Knights started commenting on the subject. This will certainly be the next big rumor since the "MS Rare buyout" rumors that ran rampant for almost a year. Also, in another interesting turn of events, Nintendo spent around 729 million dollars rebuying their own stock in order to prevent any hostile takeover by any other company.
It would be the most amazing team ever... even enough to take down the devious Sony empire! The two companies compliment eachother so well. They are seriously a perfect match. Microsoft could really benefit from Nintendo on how to make profits, and Nintendo could use some of Microsoft's lovely advertising. Microsoft needs to get into the Japanese market; Nintendo is in the Japanese market. Nintendo needs to get the f*** online; Microsoft is online...and with a service which kicks arse. Nintendo needs the mature audience; Microsoft needs the kids audience. Microsoft needs more money; Nintendo needs more exposure. MUCH MUCH MORE!
God, I pray this happens.
