Tyrese Is Expanding His Third Annual Watts Day
Singer and actor Tyrese Gibson will continue his philanthropic activities this year with his Third Annual Watts Day which is scheduled for September 7 at the Charles Drew University of Medicine & Science in Watts, California. The singer has opted to expand his Watts Day this year to include another day of activities in Columbus, Ohio.
Tyrese will be replicating Watts Day in Columbus, Ohio on October 25, and the singer hopes to raise funds to assist with the needs of youth community programs in the city.
This year's Watts Days in Watts and Columbus will include carnival rides, performances, a petting zoo, food vendors, and an array of community services.
Recently while serving as the co-host of the Soul Train Lady Of Soul Awards, Tyrese explained why it's important to bring the whole community of Watts together. "You know to have the whole community of Watts to come out to be a part of a function where 8 to 10,000 people are at, you become more aware of your surroundings," Tyrese said. "And all of the criminals be like, 'You know what, I'm not going to go shoot or stab somebody because it's going to affect that little girl that I seen at Watts Day.'"
In related news, Tyrese recently said that both he and his good friend, Ginuwine, decided to push back the joint tour the two previously scheduled for the summer. "It was a lot of things I didn't know about that just kinda popped up on me and Ginuwine," Tyrese said. "We both cancelled at the same time so. But we're still going out but we just kinda pushed it back to a later date. But you know the cancellation was mutual. I wouldn't have canceled without his permission and vice versa."
