JAM MASTER JAY HAD A WEAPON: Slain DJ tried to prepare for assailants?
According to reports, Jam Master Jay, born Jason Mizell, had a gun on him the night of his murder. This information was provided by a longtime friend, of the slain DJ, Ronald "Tinard" Washington. Police are skeptical of the information from Washington because of circumstances that led authorities to suspect Washington of being the killer's lookout.
Washington is presently incarcerated for robbing a hotel clerk in Floral Park, Long Island. But, he told New York's Daily News that he saw his friend before he was killed on October 30, 2002 and that Jay had a .45 caliber gun.
"That was the first time I ever saw Jay with a gun. He was scared. He didn't say it, but I know Jay. He was scared," said Washington. He maintains that Jam Master Jay gave him $200 to buy ammo for the gun just hours before he was killed.
Police did not confirm if a weapon was recovered at the murder scene but they did confirm that two .45 caliber shells were found in the studio lounge where Jay was killed.
Shockingly, Washington also claims that he knows who killed Jam Master Jay. The names of the
suspect(s) have not been released but Washington told authorities that when he returned to the studio to give Jam Master Jay the ammo there was a husky man and his son present. A few minutes later he heard gunshots.
Jam Master Jay's mother, Connie Mizell, also believes that something wasn't quite right with her son on the night he was killed.
"A lot of things I hear now make me think something was going on in his life that bothered him," she said. "There is no way for us to know if he was threatened or afraid. If he thought someone was trying to kill him, he never would have told us, the family. He never would have said something that would have frightened me."

I can't believe how sad and pathetic things are, not only surroundin' Jay's murder and this new information about him, but all murders of this nature in general. ::SIGH:: It seems to me that Nas made his song "I Gave You Power" in vain because no one is takin' heed to the message that he TRIED to convey.
