Jam Master Jay May Have Street Named After Him Some New Yorkers may soon be living on Jam Master Jay Street. The Hip Hop Summit Youth Council has begin a petition to change 203rd Street in Hollis, Queens to Jam Master Jay Street, in honor of the late Run-DMC deejay. Jam Master Jay grew up on 203rd Street, and his family still lives there.
The Council has been facing some difficulty because community officials will not be able to act before September due to a summer recess. Some Council members criticized officials for not reviewing the petition in a timely manner. They hope the city leaders approve the new name by the anniversary of Jam Master Jay's death on October 30.
Jam Master Jay was gunned down in his Jamaica, Queens recording studio by an unidentified assailant last year, and a police investigation of the case is ongoing. Launch.comI hope that things work out because this would be too coo'! ;D But whether or not they will be able to name the street after Jay, he'll always live on in the hearts of his fans.
