Sean Paul Charged With Profanity Sean Paul has been charged with using expletives during last week's Reggae Sumfest music festival in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Local police chief Newton Amos said that Paul's performance last Thursday (July 24) was filled with profanity, and that the rapper received a summons for using profanity in public.
According to Billboard.com, Paul is scheduled to appear Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court today (July 30), and the maximum fine he can receive is $20 or community service.
Sean Paul's hit song "Like Glue" is at Number 12 on Billboard's Hot R&B and Hip-Hop Singles chart.
Paul will appear on MTV's Hard Rock Live tonight (July 30) to perform "Like Glue."
Elephant Man, Destiny's Child and Bounty Killer were among the other artists that performed at Reggae Sumfest.
This isn't the first time artists have been accused with profanity offenses after Reggae Sumfest. Last year Ja Rule and Snoop Dogg were charged and summoned, but did not appear in court. In 2001, Beenie Man was brought to court for using profanity during the festival. Launch.comI was about to say why do some artists continue to use profanity when performin' at the Reggae Sumfest when they know they're goin' to be charged. But after seein' what the maximum fine is, I can see why. $20 bucks?!!!! Why even take the time to press charges? I say juss use the community service sentence.

20$ bucks is nothing but in the carribbean, you can't swear in a performance. Most of the fines aren't 20 dollars, they're A LOT more. Some artists have even been arrested for swearing. Ja fool was arrested when he went to St. Lucia. They take swearing seriously down there.

Heh, I remember when I was in Jamaica last year! I saw those posters for the Reggae Fest w/ Ja Rule on them. I wouldn't have minded going, but apparently in the past there had been shoot outs and killings and stuff...
Anyways...
