Isabel... what a beauch!! Okay, they already cancelled school for tomorrow, and I'm like not even remotely near this thing. None of us really want to go to school until July again! *Throws brick at school board* Anyways, I'm just ranting, I hope everyone and their families are safe.

Come to Canada! We always get the tail end of the hurricanes. And its the begining of the school year, I don't think they'll keep you to July.

Luckily Isabel turned up the other way and didn't bring her azz towards the very bottom of SC but for those who are gonna get this thing hopefully she won't do too much damage to your belongings. Seeing the after effects of a hurricane is heartbreakin

Unfortunately, we are required to go for a minimum of 180 school days. If we have any snow days (or hurricane days ^_^), they sometimes take away our second week of spring break and then start taking away from our summer

Ya'll get WEEKS of spring break? Man the kids down here because we have Mardi Gras and they're off for three days and then Easter is like a month later, all they get is 3 days off for Fat Tuesday (Mon., Tues. & Wed.) and 3 off for Easter (Thurs., Fri. and Mon.) Summer vacation is from May 31st to the middle of August.
And for Hurricanes...they're off in enough time to evacuate, waters to go down and the city to open up. So that's about 3 days to a week at a time and last year we had two in two weeks come by.
Good luck and stay dry. I suggest that if you're under the weight of the wind speed don't go outside.
Greetings from Louisiana....Hurricane Central!!

Well, Isabel has come and gone! Yay!!! ;D Our neck of the woods experienced her presence around 1:00 this afternoon. We didn't get as much rain as I thought we would, but the wind was somethin' else! We were without power until around 8:00 tonight even though we're still without cable! But anyway, my job was closed today and my bosslady called me around 6:30 this evenin' to let me know that we'll be closed again tomorrow. From what we've listened to on the radio, there are quite a few trees, limbs, and other debris litterin' the roads and highways. But I wasn't goin' anyway because I travel close to 30 miles to and from work each day and I wasn't tryna run into anything that I can avoid. I'll prolly go back home tomorrow night though or Saturday mornin'. Stayin' with my parents means that I can neva sit for more than 5 or 10 minutes without hearin' "Get me this or bring me that!". They are seriously runnin' me into the ground now! Geez! But I still luv 'em though--lol!

The hurricane came my way. But it was a tropical storm when it hit where I live (near DC). The wind was the worst, but it wasn't that bad. We had down tree limbs and lot of power outages. But in my area, there wasn't any. So I was blessed this time around.

The hurricane didn't come towards New York, even though we had heavy winds and lots of rain. And it was stupid 'cause it was sunny yesterday, and all we had was gusty winds. But half of my english class was present! I don't know why that happened, but at least for now we don't want to worry about it.
