Crowd Beats Motorist After He Strikes Boy With Car

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A crowd in West Palm Beach reacted angrily when a motorist allegedly hit and killed a 3-year-old boy.

Sheriff's officials say a group of men who saw the crash pulled the man from his car and beat him.

The boy darted into traffic Saturday night and was struck by a car driven by 37-year-old Honorio Martinez.

A sheriff's department spokesman says more than a dozen friends of the boy's father saw the crash and stopped the car about a half-block away. The men dragged Martinez out of the driver's seat and punched him several times.

After the beating, Martinez walked back to see how the child was doing, then said he was leaving because he didn't have a driver's license. The men then beat him up again.

Martinez has been charged with felony driving without a license that resulted in a death. No one has been charged in the beating.

Okay...the motorist was DEAD WRONG for tryna leave the scene after admitting that he didn't have a license. But where were his attackers when the 3-year-old ran out into the traffic?

They shouldn't have touched the man to begin with. Judging from his name, it looks like the beating could have been ignited due to racism, which is quite sad I doubt it was actually the man's fault for hitting the child. Why was the kid in the street anyways? Sheez...

I agree compeletely, I mean if you wanna follow the man and stop him and beat him, the why in da h@ll didn't you stop the lil boy from runningo ut in traffic, its sad that he died and the driver was wrong, but damn I feel the parents are at fault too. I mena what kind of parent would leave a 3 yearold unattended to play near traffic!

I feel sorry for the child in all of this because he's the one that had to suffer... do to carelessness on behalf of other people, it cost him his life.

That's happening all too much these dayz. Parents need to pay more attention to their children.
