Joe Budden Facing Throat Surgery (05/21/2003)
Rapper Joe Budden is scheduled to release his self-titled debut set on June 10 on Def Jam Records-- but the rapper hasb recently been plagued with voice problems. After a recent medical examination, Budden was informed that he had a polyp on his right vocal cord which may require surgery.
Budden told Allhiphop.com, "I might have to get surgery to get my voice back. I got some swelling going on back there. It just comes from a lot of acid. I drink a lot of acidy sh-t. You'll never see me without a beverage. Even now my voice is a whole lot deeper than normal. You can hear something is going on."
Budden said he was often embarrassed by the sudden loss of his voice during performances. "I was doing so much and doing shows, I would come out rapping and in the middle of the show, my voice would disappear," Budden said. "It would go away completely. It was very embarrassing."
According to the rapper's representatives at Def Jam Records, Budden, who is currently resting per doctor's orders, hasn't set a date for surgery.
At first, I hated "Pump It Up"...but NOW...that's my jam! ;D But I wish him a speedy recovery.
And to think, he was supposed to come through our city on the Def Jam Vendetta Tour on June 7. I hadn't made up my mind if I'm goin' yet or not though.
