Jay-Z's Business Partner Arrested On Drug Charges (5/9/03)
Roc-A-Fella Records co-owner Kareem "Biggs" Burke was arrested earlier this week and charged with manufacturing drugs after police discovered 24 marijuana plants in his Cliffside Park, New Jersey penthouse.
According to Cliffside Park Police Chief Donald Keane, police and two employees of the Carlyle Towers entered Burke's empty apartment on Monday (May 5)night to investigate a possible water leak.
Authorities discovered 24 plants bearing nearly two ounces of marijuana, four grams of hashish, as well as hydroponics lights and humidifiers in a second floor room in the penthouse.
Burke was released on Tuesday (May 6) after a bondsman posted his $150,000 bail. No court date has been set but Burke's attorney, Ian Hirsch, told the North Jersey News, "He'll be vindicated."
Burke owns one-third of the Roc-A-Fella empire which includes Roc-A-Fella Records, Roc-A-Wear clothing, Roc-A-Fella Films, and Armadale vodka.
Rapper Jay-Z and Damon Dash own the other two-thirds of the conglomerate.
Ok, this is REALLY sad! But maybe dude's mentality is you can never have enough money and he wanted somethin' to fall back on in case things didn't work out for Roc-A-Fella.
OR...maybe he was growin' his product for medicinal purposes for Bobby Houston due to the fact that he and Whitney live in NJ also and prolly live nearby?
