CHANCE TO GIVE RUBEN A CUDDLE'AMERICAN Idol 2" winner Ruben Studdard was dubbed "The Velvet Teddy Bear" by Gladys Knight for his girth and his smooth voice - and now he has a cuddly alter-ego to match.
Meet "Ruben Studdard: The Velvet Teddy Bear," two new dolls from Applause that celebrate the "AI2" winner.
The bears, which will be released in mid-September, will come in two sizes - a 15-inch version retailing from $15 to $19 and a 7-inch version that will cost about $7.50. They both wear the trademark cap Ruben made famous during his run on "AI2."
The Ruben "Velvet Teddy Bear" now joins other Applause merchandise linked to characters such as Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse, Raggedy Ann, Snoopy and The Simpsons.
Yahoo NewsAwwwwwwwwww...I heard about this on the Russ Parr Show this mornin'.  This bear sounds like it will be cute! Maybe I'll buy the $7.50 one.

I want both! ;D I love teddy bears. I have 2 big baskets full of teddies then my bed is full of them too. From the stars and stripe bear, Popples(remember this show from the '80?), Sonic the hedgehog to a Pooch patrol. Man, I'm gonna run out of space on my bed.  |

I can see that. Well when they come out, I'm buying myself a teddy bear, and one for my boyfriend! ;D I just hope I have time to get him the teddy bear since he's going to Penn State in September.  |

Popples!! LOL I never had one but my cousins did. My mom refused to get me one...she said it was unnecessary.
I want the Ruben bear though.

You can still get Popples. There's newer ones on sale at Toys R Us. If you want the ones from the 80's, try ebay or a fan site that's selling 80's Popples.
A LOT of people are going to buy his bears. They should take some of that money and put it one of his favorite Charities or something.

I have 3 of those ones. The 80's had some of the best quality cartoons and not to mention toys!
