Luther Vandross' Friends Turn Out For New Video
Luther Vandross' latest release Dance With My Father is a runaway hit. The set has sold more than 900,000 copies since its release five weeks ago, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Recently several of the singer's friends came together to appear in the video for "Dance With My Father" and offer the artist their support.
Vandross, who suffered a serious stroke in his Manhattan apartment on April 16, was unavailable for the video. The singer's status has been upgraded to stable, and according to his family, he's mouthing words and breathing on his own.
In Vandross' absence, his friends got together to appear in the clip for "Dance With My Father." The list of musicians, athletes, and actors who appear in the video include: Beyonce and her father Matthew Knowles, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, the Wayans brothers, Monica, Wyclef Jean, Patti LaBelle, Celine Dion, Nona Gaye, Jason Kidd, Ruben Studdard, Whitney Houston, Babyface, Brian McKnight, Holly Robinson Peete, Garcelle Beauvais, and Johnny Gill. The video also includes childhood photos of Vandross and his family.
Stevie Wonder shared why he participated in the video in a statement: "It is an expression of love and appreciation that I have for him. It is just an honor to know him and for us to be friends."
Dance With My Father is Number Four on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The set includes guest appearances by Beyonce Knowles, Queen Latifah, Busta Rhymes, and Foxy Brown.

This sounds like a very nice video, but I juss wouldn't be myself if I didn't ask why Beyonce and her father will be in it without the rest of Destiny's Child. But then again, that's one of life's questions that really doesn't need an anwer since I should already know why. But in spite of that, this tribute to Luther sounds very touching. I can't wait to see it!
