No Coincidence Part 9b

“You don’t want to know.” Khori said as she shook her head.

“I obviously want to know, since I’m asking you!” Scola said slightly annoyed.

Khori took a deep breath and looked in Scola’s eyes. When she started to tell him she heard what sounded like someone approaching the room.

They both looked up when they saw Gloria and Doreen enter the room.

“Scola, my honey! How are you?” Gloria said as she approached Scola’s bed. Doreen was behind her with a worried look on her face.

“I’m alive, so I guess I’m hanging in there.” Scola joked.

“Are you sure you okay?” Doreen asked Scola. Khori noticed how Doreen rolled her eyes at Gloria.

Scola shook his head yes.

“I thought that ya’ll would be with the fellas at their performance tonight.” Khori said to Gloria and Doreen.

“They said they didn’t need us.” Doreen replied. Gloria didn’t look Khori’s way and Khori didn’ t care.

“Oh, ok.” Khori said and her cell phone rang.

Woody thought it was time to tell the fellas his theory on what happened with Scola.

“I think I know who gave Scola that X.” Woody said.

Everybody was quietly sitting in a conference room before the show. Their performance had been pushed back a half an hour because of scheduling issues and that meant another hour for them to wait.

“I knew that you knew something!” Nokio said.

“Well….spit it out!” Sisqo joked.

“ I think it’s Gloria!”

“I knew it! That ho!” Jazz said.

“Wait! Hold up now! How did you come to that conclusion, Woody?” Kenneth asked.

“She was stirring his drink and don’t nobody I know stir grapefruit juice!”

“I did notice he was acting kinda funny before he left with Gloria. Hmmmmm…” Nokio said.

“I can’t believe it!” Kenneth said as he shook his head.

“Well…well…well!” Sisqo said as he shook his head.

“And…remember how Scola said he wasn’t going to do anything with her anymore because he wanted to be with Khori?” Woody said.

“Yeah. She was upset!” Nokio chuckled.

“I told ya’ll from the get-go not to mess with nobody ya’ll work closely with! But ya’ll gotta be hard headed and do it anyway! Tsk…Tsk..Tsk!” Kenneth said.

“That’s your man Scole! He’s the one that almost kicked the bucket screwing Evilena!” Sisqo joked.

They all laughed.

“Well since Scola’s not here to defend himself, we need to be quiet… Sike!”Jazz joked.

“Look ya’ll! I’m going to call Khori and let her know what’s what!” Woody said.

Khori had left the room to give Gloria and Doreen time with Scola and to hear what important message Woody had to tell her.

“No, she didn’t!” Khori replied after Woody told her his theory.

“She’s the only one that’s close to us that would do that mess!”

Khori sighed. “She’s here with Doreen visiting with Scola.”

“Ok.”

“I’m going to approach her!”

“I don’t think it’s a good idea!” Woody said.

“Why…I almost got raped because of her! If she did it! But, the more I think about it, I think she’s guilty!”

Woody pulled the phone away from his ear and he told the fellas that Gloria and Doreen were in the hospital and Khori was going to approach Gloria.

“Oh snap! I wish I was there!” Sisqo said.

“I would’ve pulled out the popcorn! Dang!” Nokio joked.

“I hope she let her have it!” Jazz said. Kenneth just shook his head.

“You don’t have anything to say?” Sisqo asked Kenneth.

Kenneth shook his head no and shrugged his shoulders.

“Look babygirl! I don’t think that you should; but do what ya gotta do.” Woody said to Khori.

Khori turned her cell phone off and went back into Scola’s room. Gloria was on his right side and Doreen on his left. It disguisted Khori to see Gloria once again in Scola’s face.

“Gloria can I talk to you for a minute.” Khori said in a serious tone.

“No.” She replied in a tone to match Khori’s.

“I’m going ask you nicely again! Can you step out of the room so that I can ask you some questions?”

Doreen’s look of worried worsened. “Did they get found out?” She thought to herself.

Gloria moved away from Scola and rolled her eyes at Khori. “NO!” She replied once again.

“OK! Since you don’t wanna handle this in private, It’s gonna be handled in public!”

“What is it?” Gloria said with a smart tone.

“It was YOU who gave Scola drugs! YOU put it in his grapefruit juice didn’t YOU!”

Gloria and Doreen looked at each other. “What makes you think that?” Gloria whispered dramatically.

“Woody saw you stirring Scola’s juice! Why in the heck were you stirring his juice?”

Khori glanced in Doreen’s direction when she heard her sniff. Doreen started crying lightly.

Khori walked over to Doreen and asked her why she was crying.

Doreen looked at Gloria and Gloria had a very mean look on her face. She turned away from Gloria for a moment and she gathered up enough strength to say what she had to say.

“Tell them Gloria!” Doreen whispered.

“Tell them what?” Gloria replied.

“The truth!”

“What?”

“If YOU don’t, then I will!” Doreen said.

“I can’t!” Gloria replied.

“I’m confused? What’s going on?” Scola asked.

“She did put the drugs in your drink and I gave it to her!” Doreen said.

“DOREEN!” Gloria shouted.

“I’m sorry Scola. I gave it to her not knowing that what she was going to do with them. I didn’t know that she was going to use them on you.” Doreen cried.

Scola looked over at Gloria and frowned. Khori was heated.

“Is it true?” Scola asked.

“And just to think….I’ve almost got raped by Scola because of you!” Khori said.

“RAPE?” Scola, Doreen and Gloria all said at the same time.

Doreen was so embarrassed she got up and left the room.

“Gloria, get the h*** outta my room!” Scola shouted to Gloria and Khori’s surprised.

“But Scola…I didn’t.—“

“Just leave the room before I do something I regret!” Scola said angrily.

Khori and Gloria both gave each other dirty looks before Gloria hurried out of the room.

Scola, all of a sudden, felt refreshed.

“Can you close the door please?” Scola asked Khori. Khori went and closed the door. By then, Scola had sat up in his bed and stood up to stretch. He felt a little lightheaded, but he caught his balance and sat back down.

“Come here, Khori.” Scola said.

Khori went and stood in front of Scola and he grabbed her hands.

“Khori, I honestly don’t know what happened, but I wanna apologize for anything that I did. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

“I accept your apology. I knew it wasn’t you doing that!”

“How was I acting?”

“You were definitely acting out of your character.” Khori joked.

“Awww, I’m so sorry, sweetie!” Scola said as he stood up and gave Khori a hug. It caught Khori by surprise and when Scola hugged her, her body stiffened. Scola noticed it and hugged her even more.

Khori loosened up and hugged Scola back. She felt all her feelings for him rush back and she pulled away.

Khori cleared her throat. “…Well…I guess the fellas are about to come on now.”

“Yeah…let me sit back down.”

Khori took her seat next to Scola again and she grabbed the remote. “So what do you think is going to happen to Gloria and Doreen?”

“Let’s not worry about them now! They’ll be taken care of!”

Khori turned the televison on. The channel Dru was performing on was at a commercial. Khori saw a distressed look come over Scola’s face and she grabbed his hand. Scola looked at Khori.

“Is something wrong?”

Scola sighed. “This is their first performance without me.”

“Oh really?”

“Yeah! I hope they don’t kick me out, because the original four is performing together.” He joked.

“You know you will be forever in Dru Hill!” Khori joked.

“Yeah I know! Just a little insecurity crept up!”

Khori smiled at him and gently squeezed his hand.

“I’m glad you here.” Scola said to Khori and smiled back.

They stared at each other for a moment. The sound of Sisqo on the television broke their stares.

“Turn it up!” Scola said to Khori.

The fellas of Dru Hill minus Scola was being interviewed by the local show MC and they were asked about Scola’s whereabouts.

“Our boy is a little under the weather right now.” Sisqo said.

“Yeah. We wanna dedicate this performance to you Scoley Scole!” Nokio said.

“Yeah man! Get better!” Jazz said.

“Is this you’re first performance without him?” The MC asked.

There was a pause for a minute and Woody spoke up. “Yes it is. But isn’t the same without him.”

“But this is the original Dru Hill, right here!” The MC said.

“Yeah…well…were five now and we will forever BE five!” Sisqo said.

“This one’s for you Scola!” Nokio shouted into the camera.

“Yeah!” The rest of the fellas said as looked into the camera.

Two days later, Scola was feeling much better. The doctor said he might have dreams about the incident but he didn’t have any so far.

To celebrate their last night in Myrtle Beach, the fellas decided to go to a local comedy club to get their laugh on. They had there biggest laugh when Gloria and Doreen got busted out. They immediatey got sent out of Myrtle Beach and to the label offices in New York. Kenneth was very heated and disappointed.

Kenneth also got on Scola about his actions. Scola vowed not to make that kinda mistake again.

“Hey! You going with us?” Sisqo asked Khori when he peeked his head into her room.

“Yeah. I just gotta put my shoes on!”

“Dang mami! You’re looking hot!” Sisqo said to Khori. Khori had on red suede jacket with red knit sleeves, black nicely fitting jeans and some black boots. She liked her hair pinned up, so she kept it that way. She had reapplied some of the makeup she had gotten for the wedding.

“Thanks! Is Scola coming?” She said as she looked around.

“Dang! Yeah, he’s going! He’s in the car!” Sisqo said as he shook his head.

Khori blushed. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to hit a nerve!”

“Umm hmm.” Sisqo said.

Khori grabbed Sisqo and gave him a hug and a kiss on his cheek.

It was Sisqo’s time to blush. “Thanks Khori!”

Khori laughed as she and Sisqo headed to the car, where the fellas were waiting.

Tamara, Russell and Binka had just came out of the mall and were walking in the parking lot.

Russell had Binka on his shoulders and Tamara was walking behind them. Binka was holding a new Sponge Bob toy he had won from the Jeepers they had just came out of.

“Auntieeeeeee!”Binka said to a lady that passed by them.

“Honey, that’s not you’re auntie!” Tamara said.

“Aunnnnnnnntie!” He repeated again.

Tamara shook her head. Binka started to hit his father on his head with the stuffed Sponge Bob.

“Stop hitting me lil’man or I’m going to put you down!” Russell said.

“Stop it Binka!” Tamara said.

A car was coming quickly out of a parking space and they didn’t see Russell and Binka.

“RUSSELL!” Tamara shouted. She had spotted the car before Russell did.

It was too late. The car had hit Russell on his right side and the impact forced Binka to fly several feet away from his father.

Tamara was hysterical. She didn’t know who to run to first. A couple that had just parked in a parking space a few feet away came over to help her. They were closer to Binka, so they helped him.

“Russell are you okay?” Tamara said.

“My right side hurts!” He mumbled.

“The baby’s unconcious!” A young man who was part of the couple, yelled.

The person, an eldery man, in the car that hit Russell, called 9-1-1 and he apologized.

Tamara was too in shock to tell that man off. “Oh my babies!” She thought to herself as she started to break down and cry.

Khori and the fellas were headed back to the house when she got the call on her phone.

“Khori…this is Tamara!” she cried.
Khori noticed the shakiness in Tamara’s voice.

“What’s wrong Tee?”

“Uh…ummm…I have some bad news!”

“What?”

“Russell and Binka were in an ac…accident…and---“

“Accident!” Khori said as everyone in the car focused their attention on her.

“Yeah…and---“

“Are they alright?”

“Noooooo---“

“NO! Tamara tell me what happened!”

Tamara told Khori about the accident. She tried to hold her keep herself from crying, but she couldn’ t. Hearing her best friend cry hurt her to her heart.

Scola noticed that Khori started to cry and he grabbed her and hugged her.

“Russell has a bruised hip and bruised ribs, but Binka—“

“Oh no…”

“He..he’s in a…coma.”

“No, not my baby!” Khori screamed and she started crying hysterically.

“He’s gonna pull through this! I have faith.” Tamara said.

After a few minutes of Khori and Tamara crying on the phone, Khori got herself together.

“That’s right! He’s definitely gonna make it through!”

All the fellas figured out from the conversation what had happened.

Tamara and Khori said a prayer for Binka and they ended their phone call.

“I gotta go home tomorrow!” Khori cried.

“I take it your nephew is in a coma?” Sisqo said from the driver’s seat.

“Yeah…I gotta get home!”

“Everything’s gonna be alright!” Scola said as hugged her to him gently.

Scola had came to check up on Khori before she went to bed.

“Do you have everything squared away?”

“Yeah. I called everybody I needed to call and they gave me the okay. Sorry I gotta leave ya’ll early.” Khori said.

“You probably have enough to do the whole article now!” Scola laughed.

“You’re probably right!” Khori laughed.

Khori yawned. Scola took that as a signal that she was about to go to sleep.

“I see that you’re about ready to go to bed. Sweet dreams for a sweetie!” Scola said.

He walked over to Khori and she stood up. Scola gave her one of his warm and gently hugs.

“Scola?” She mumbled into his shoulder.

“Umm hmmm.”

“Umm….I don’t know if I should ask you this?”

“What is it?” Scola asked as he let her go, so he could see her face.

“Can you sleep with me tonight?”

“SLEEP with you?” Scola asked with anxiousness in his voice.

“Not that kinda sleep, silly!”

“Oh….” Scola said with relief.

“Well…because I what went through today, I just know I might have a problem sleeping and---“

“Don’t say another word. I’ll sleep with you.” He whispered.

“Thank you.”

“But I gotta warn you….I sleep with no clothes on!” Scola said.

“What?” Khori asked. She was now reconsidering letting him sleep with her.

“I’m just playing!” Scola joked. “But, maybe if you were sleeping with me—“

“Hahahaha!” Khori laughed sarcastically.

“Nah, I’m just playin’ again!” He joked.

Scola was cuddled up with Khori on her bed. He couldn’t believe he was behaving himself. He looked down at Khori sleeping peacefully, but he was wide awake. He thought about turning on the television, but he didn’t want to wake her. He sat there in the dark and he finally drifted off to sleep.

Scola started to dream about that day that he was high and tried to rape Khori. The dreams were so vivid, it scared him. It seemed that he was having an out of body experience.

“Let her go!” He screamed in his sleep. His screaming woke Khori up out of her sleep and she shook him to wake him.

He woke up and he was covered in sweat.

“I’m sorry, boo…I’m so sorry!” He said to Khori as he hugged her to him.

“You’re having dreams of the incident?”

“Yeah….the doctor said I would have them and they are coming real strong!”

It was Khori’s turn to comfort Scola. “I forgot to wish you sweet dreams.”

Scola smiled and kissed her on her cheek. “Thanks!” He said.

They clung to each other until they drifted back off to sleep.
