After a shakey week of nonstop communicating, Lene and her family were on the road to recovery. There were still some areas they needed to work on but from what anyone could tell they were gonna be okay.
In the mean time, James and Lene were spending a lot more time with each other. But everytime James was with her it made it harder and harder for him to tell her about Noelle. It was now clear to the both of them that they belonged together. Everything they ever felt for each other was now stronger than before.
"So how are things with your family?" asked James. He and Lene decided to stay at her house and watch a couple of movies, though they hadn't paid attention to them since they put them in.
"We're still working on things but I think we're gonna be okay." said Lene who was sitting next to James on the floor.
"That's good to hear. I'm glad you guys are trying to work it out."
"Yeah, David has been really trying."
"You still call him David?"
"Yeah, only because I've gotten use to calling him that. He understands it's gonna be awhile before I call him dad or daddy again."
"Oh, well as long as you two are getting along."
"I know, hold on, let me go get the popcorn." said Lene jumping up off the floor.
When James watched her walk out of the room, he notice a book sitting on the couch. He knew she was very much into them so he picked it up to see who the author might be. When he realized it was a diary he became curious. He didn't want to invade her privacy but the suspicions of what she might have written in there got to him.
He casually flipped through a couple of pages, just browsing through not really reading. He then came across his name. He began to read her words of affection for him. But before he could finish, Lene walked back into the room catching him in midsentence.
"What are you doing?" asked Lene.
"I, I was just looking at this book." said James struggling to close the book after dropping on the floor.
"That's not an ordinary book, it's my old diary."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snoop through your stuff."
"It's okay, the stuff I wrote in there were from years ago. Besides, I'm not embarrassed by anything in there."
"Oh."
"I'm guessing you read a little bit of what I wrote about you?"
"Yeah, just a little."
"Well I meant what I said about you. You know, about liking you a lot. Those feelings haven't gone away. Well maybe during the years I was gone, but they're back now."
"They are?"
"Yeah."
"Well I guess it's safe to say the same about you."
"Really?"
"Yeah, but I have to be honest with you."
"Okay."
"I do care about you alot. I can definitely see us together but I think it's only right to tell you that I do have a girlfriend."
"You do?"
"Yeah."
"So how come you never mentioned her?"
