[glow=yellow,2,300]Special thankx to my play sis, Peaches, for bearin' with me on this one; I'm sure she thought I'd neva get it done--lol! Anyway, thankx again, girly![/glow] ;D
"W'sup, man!", Don grinned when Michael climbed into the passenger seat of his ride. Michael had officially been released from the correctional facility after doing 18 months of a 10-year sentence. However, he would be on probation for the next 5 years.
"W’sup, D! Thanks for pickin’ me up, man!", he grinned back.
"Dn! I neva thought you'd get rid of that good hur!", Don joked with a shake of his head. "Now the ladies won't have anything to run their fingers through!"
"Whateva, man!", Michael chuckled as he ran his hand over the top of his closely shaven head. He felt that since he was starting over on the outside world, he had to have a different look. That's why he had decided to shave his head although he was still sporting a moustache and goatee.
"So, whereto first? It's your call, dawg!", Don stated as he pulled out onto the main highway.
"Home! I'll have plenty of time to check out everything else lata.", Michael replied as he watched the facility becoming smaller and smaller in the passenger rearview mirror as Don headed down the highway.
During his ride home, Michael began to look through his belongings that were given back to him. While looking through his wallet, he came across an old picture of him and Kiara during their happier times.
When Don glanced over at him and noticed him looking down at something he asked him if he was okay. But Michael didn't respond; he continued to stare at the woman who was once the love of his life.
"Mike, man you okay?", Don asked again. This time he glanced downward and noticed what Michael had been concentrating on. "Oh, my bad, man."
"No, it's coo'.", Michael replied with a shake of his head. "I guess I gotta let her go. Besides, after months of therapy sessions I have come to the realization that like Kee, I have to move on with my life."
“Sir, would you like something else to drink?”, the waitress aboard the luxury cruise ship asked Michael as he sat in a daze.
“No thank you.”, he weakly smiled after looking up at her. He then turned his attention back to the dance floor. While watching Mark and Kiara dancing among the other passengers aboard the cruise while Sade performed, he felt himself becoming angry at both himself and Mark. He was angry with himself because he vowed that he would leave the past in the past. But when he arrived home, all he could think about was Kiara. Which is what led him up to being angry with Mark. Here he was enjoying a honeymoon with the woman that he was supposed to be honeymooning with.
That's why he decided to go on the cruise after eavesdropping on Mark's friends a few days after his arrival home as they were shopping in a store that he frequented quite often before being sentenced to serve time in the correctional facility.
When Don asked Michael why was he going on a cruise by himself instead of inviting Nicki, he told him that he wanted to enjoy some time alone before starting back at work.
Once he boarded the ship, Michael's plan was to see Kiara the moment he saw her alone. However, he promised himself that he wouldn't do anything crazy. He just wanted to talk to her and prove that he had changed for the better and was worth being back in her life. But it had been 2 days and nights since the start of the cruise and Mark and Kiara were inseparable.
"Can we go to our room now?!", Mark pretended to whine after Sade finished singing.
"No, boo! You know how much I love her! She's juss gettin' started for cryin' out loud!", Kiara chuckled as she and Mark headed back to their table.
"Isht! But I'm beginnin' to get started too!", he joked with a wink.
"Don't go there with me, aight?", she grinned with a shake of her head as she pointed her finger at him.
"I won't now, but I will lata.", he whispered as he leaned over and shared a quick kiss with her. "I'll be right back." He noticed that they had finished up their drinks from earlier in the evening so he went back over to the bar to get them some more.
As Kiara swayed her head from side to side while listening to Sade sing "Cherish the Day", she happened to turn her head for a quick moment and saw a tall, dark, bald stranger staring at her. However, after continuing to stare at him in disbelief after he quickly turned away from her, Kiara’s heart began to pound. "No...it can't be! I'm imaginin' things!!!", she thought to herself with a shake of her head while turning back around in her chair . However, when she turned back around to have one last look, the familiar stranger had disappeared.
"Boo, what's wrong?", Mark asked when he came back over to their table. He saw that Kiara was looking around the room nervously.
"Nothin'!", she quickly replied as she turned back around to look at him.
"Are you sure? You look like you seen a ghost!”, he stated after sitting down next to her.
"Nah, I'm coo'. Thanks.", she smiled as she took a sip of her drink. "Look, maybe we should get outta here. I'm in the mood now if you know what I mean.", she slyly grinned after taking several more sips. In actuality, she wanted to be safe and secure back in her room away from everything. She was quite shaken up by what she had seen.
"C'mon, ma!", Mark grinned without hesitation as he took her hand and quickly led her back to their cabin.
Several hours later, Mark woke up and saw Kiara standing up in the dark while looking out of the window of their cabin that she had opened. The ocean breeze seemed to soothe her as she thought about everything leading up to her marriage to him.
“Kee...what are you doin' up? It's 4:00 in the mornin'!", he whispered as he went over to stand behind her.
"I couldn't sleep so I decided to get some air...that's all. You go back to sleep. I'm aight.", she smiled as she turned around to look at him.
"Are you sure, I noticed that you've been kinda tense tonight...well all except durin' one part.", he joked as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Man, shut up!", she laughed with a shake of her head. "Like I said, I'm aight. Go'n back to bed. I'll be there in a lil' bit." She proceeded to turn her head around to share a quick kiss with him. He then headed back over to the bed to lie down. Kiara started laughing the minute he began to snore when his head hit the pillow.
The next morning when the ship pulled into the dock of the Caribbean, Mark and Kiara decided to ask a sweet old lady, who asked them to call her Aunt Betty, to join them as they shopped. Kiara had ran into her during the first day of their cruise and found out that this was the first year Aunt Betty was on a cruise alone because her husband of 47 years had died the year before. Mark knew that Kiara had a soft spot for her elders.
Over the next several hours, Michael was incognito as he followed them around the island. Every time he thought he would have a chance to be alone with Kiara, daggone his time if she wasn't accompanied by Mark or some old lady.
However, once everyone was boarding the ship to leave, Michael thought he had his chance to make his move. He noticed that Mark was helping Aunt Betty up the stairs to the ship while Kiara stayed behind to make sure she had all of her bags after they had been checked by the ship's security. Michael made sure that he was at least 3 people behind her as they began to climb aboard.
