"Where are the girls?! I'm startin' to get hungry!", James laughed as he and Tamir grilled some food for Rufus' and Mina's committed ceremony.

"Man, fo'get about bein' hungry! I'm ready to do this...before I change my mind!", Rufus sighed with a shake of his head.

"Na, don't go there! Mina is the one for you and you're not gettin' outta this isht without goin' through me first!", Larry chuckled as he sat with his date, Lisa, on one of the park benches.

"I'ono, man. I can't help from bein' a lil' nervous. What if I do some stupid isht lata on down the line and lose her?", Rufus anxiously asked.

"Even if you do...the fun part will be winnin' her back!", Tamir replied with a wink. "Now shut up and go sit down until they get here!"

"That's right, man!", Mark grinned as he watched a car with two girls pull up in front of the basketball court about a 100 feet away. "Oh isht!"

"What?", James asked after going over to sit down next to his date and Lisa's cousin, Tanya.

"Ummmm...uhhhh...", Mark nervously stated as he tugged on his baseball cap. He didn't know how to come out with it.

When Tamir looked up, his mouth dropped open in disbelief. It was Shannon and Tanisha. "Oh...well, yall know what? They're not gonna mess up this day!"

"That's what I'm sayin'!", Rufus agreed with a nod of his head. "Besides, they look like they're here to check out some otha nas." They witnessed Tanisha hugging and kissing one of the six guys that were playing on the court.

"Listen...fo'get them broads! Turn on some music!", Larry stated.

Mark proceeded to walk over to his ride to turn his system on. They all began to have a good time as Erykah Badu's "Danger" thumped through the speakers. And it wasn't too long before the girls showed up.

"Okay...and yall said he'd really like this 'do?", Mina nervously asked once again. She had juss had her hair cut into a super short, but straight and spiky deep-red dyed style. On the way over to the park, the girls kept teasing her saying she looked like a busted wanna-be Eve.

"Look...you've already cut it so no need to keep buggin' us about it. Besides, Ru loves you regardless! Dn!", Desiree laughed with a shake of her head.

"Yeah...so shut up!", Carlise laughed.

"I juss wanna look good for my man! So don't hate!", Mina laughed as she stuck her tongue out at them.

"Here they come!", James announced when they saw the girls heading towards them.

All three were dressed in casual gear. Desiree and Carlise were both dressed in white, off the shoulder blouses and blue denim capris with white, tie-up sandals. Mina was dressed in a red off the shoulder blouse and a pair of white denim capris with a pair of red open-toed mules.

"Dn, what did Mina do to herself?!", James asked when he took a look at her hair.

"Dn if I know, but she looks right cute!", Mark smiled while waving at Carlise.

"Fo'get cute! My girl looks good!", Rufus proudly smiled.

"Isht! All of 'em do!", Larry grinned while checking them out until Lisa nudged him with her elbow and gave him the evil eye.

"Girl, they're like my sistahs...besides, you know you the best lookin' one out here!", he chuckled with a wink of his eye.

"Well, since you put it like that, I forgive you!", she chuckled before planting a kiss on his forehead.

As soon as the girls reached everybody, Rufus wasted no time in saying that he wanted to get the ceremony started after he and Mina shared a sweet hug and kiss.

Mark quickly ran over to his ride to turn the system off while everyone else began to gather around Rufus and Mina.

Meanwhile, a few female spectators down at the basketball court leaned up against the fence while watching what everyone was doing.

"Ain't that Mir and his friends down there?", Shannon whispered to Tanisha as they also joined the other girls at the fence.

Tanisha sadly nodded her head yes when she saw how he and Desiree were hugged up with each other. She then walked away without saying a word.

"Tani? I say we kick her and her girls' @$$es for what he did to you!", Shannon angrily stated as she followed Tanisha back over to the opposite end of the court.

"Not now...I don't even feel like it's worth it.", she replied as she watched her new man and his team losing against the other team.

However, by the time Shannon finished filling her head with how Tamir treated her, she was ready to rumble. But she and Shannon both decided they wouldn't be so ghetto to break up the ceremony that was taking place. They'd wait until later.

"I love you, Mina, as this ring will always remind you. You are my love and my best friend.", Rufus smiled as he held her hand that she had worn her promise ring on since the day he gave it to her.

Fighting back tears, Mina began to speak. "Words can't express how happy I am to have found the true love of my life. You are also my best friend and I promise to make you happy and proud of me. I love you with all my heart and soul, Rufus."

She and Rufus proceeded to hug each other tightly while sharing a passionate kiss. However, when it seemed like they weren't going to come up for any air, Mark spoke up.

"Dn! I know yall happy and all but we have otha things to do for the rest of this year! We can't sit here and watch yall suck face for hours on end!", he laughed before Carlise told him to shut up although she was laughing.

Rufus stopped kissing Mina long enough to tell Mark to shut his @$$ up before he leaned his head back down to share one more kiss with her.

Afterwards, everyone talked, ate, and listened to some more music. In the meantime, Shannon and Tanisha both kept an eye on all of them so they would know when to make their move.

"Here they come!", Tanisha whispered when she saw the girls along with Lisa and Tanya making their way across the park to head for the corner store up the block. They needed some more ice for the drinks.

"W'sup, Desiree!", Shannon spat when she and Tanisha blocked the girls' paths.

"Itchb! You betta get the hell outta my face!", Desiree snapped as Carlise and Mina quickly stepped up beside her.

"Who is she?", Carlise asked while placing a hand on her hip and glaring at both Shannon and Tanisha.

"Shannon! And I take it this is Tanisha BKA the neighborhood ho!", Desiree huffed while also glaring at them.

"Oh hell naw!!!!!!! I know not!", Mina exclaimed as she began to snatch her large hoop earrings off. "Here!", she stated to Lisa as she gave her her earrings to hold.

By this time, everyone near the basketball court began to form a small crowd while Tanya quickly headed back over to the guys to get them before any trouble really started. This was especially true for Desiree since she had only been out of the hospital a little over 2 weeks.

"Itchb, you need to shut the cufk up and mind yo own dn bidness!", Tanisha snapped as she stepped up closer to Mina. When Desiree saw Mina throwing her arm back to come back with a blow to Tanisha's face, she quickly jumped in between the two of them to keep her from doing so.

"Mina, stop! Lemme handle this!", she shouted when Mina kept protesting that she wanted to go to jail.

"You need to watch who you call a itchb because you and your cousin here are the only ones out here that are itchbes! 'Specially after you thought you were gonna break me and my man apart.", Desiree stated as she stared Tanisha down.

"You don't know who you talkin' to with your dumb @$$! Don't hate me because I could give your man eadh betta than you could! That's why the na kept...!", Tanisha started before Desiree gave her a quick smack to her left jaw. However, when Carlise saw Tanisha about to come back with a blow to Desiree's face, she jumped in between them and began to beat Tanisha's @$$ like there was no tomorrow. Shannon was about to jump into it when Mina ran towards her like a mad bull and began to whup her @$$ too. And when she went to pull Shannon's hair, she ended up with several tracks of hair in her fists.

It began to look like a free-for-all in the middle of Druid Hill park until Tamir and the rest of the crew reached them as well as the guys from the court including Tanisha's new man.

"Are you aight?!", Tamir anxiously asked as he ran over to Desiree who was laughing hysterically while watching her girls handle their business. Mark and the other guys couldn't help from doing so either as they pulled Carlise and Mina off of Shannon and Tanisha.

Shannon took off running for her car while holding onto the rest of her weave that was slipping from her head while Tanisha began to cry hysterically when she noticed her shirt had been completely ripped from her body leaving her indecently exposed. Her man wrapped her up in his arms as he quickly walked her over to Shannon's ride so no one would see her.

"Boom-ba-yay!!! Boom-ba-yay!!!", the crowd began to chant in a joking manner as the guys walked the girls back over to the other side of the park.

After taking his t-shirt off and giving to Tanisha while making sure that she was calmed down in Shannon's ride, her man quickly made his way over to Tamir and company.

"Listen, yall nas need to control those itchbes of yours!", he snapped as he stood in front of Tamir.

"Cufk you na! Don't get cufked up out here like your girl juss did!", Larry snapped as he quickly walked over to him. However, it was Rufus and Tamir that were just about to come to blows with him for calling their girls out of their name. Mina and Desiree both grabbed them by their arms and hands to stop them. There was no need to get into another rumble. However, Mark was waiting for his chance to come at him for disrespecting his girls.

The whole while the girls were trying to keep them from kicking homeboy's @$$, he kept running his mouth about Desiree and how much of a sorry itchb she was according to what Tanisha had told him.

That's when Mark had had enough. "Na...that's my lil' sis you talkin' about! Keep runnin' your cufkin' mouf and I'ma shut it for yo punk @$$!", he shouted as he jumped in between him and Tamir.

"Man, get yo' lil' @$$ outta here before I fling you across this cufkin’ park!", Tani's man yelled before he began to pop off some more isht about Desiree. The more he talked the angrier Tamir became as he tried to snatch his arm away from her.

"Stop, Mir! Please don't do this! He's not even worth it! That na bein' a punk cause his girl got punked!", she pleaded with tears in her eyes.

"Get off me! I'm gettin' ready to kick his @$$, so move!", Tamir shouted as he tried to push her hand away.

But then out of the blue, it happened; Mark reached up and sucker punched ol' dude in the jaw knocking one of his teeth loose as he stumbled backwards to the ground.

"I told yo @$$ to shut up! C'mon, na! You want some more?!", he shouted while bouncing and dancing around the guy in a circle as he swung his fist in the air.

Just then, a fire truck siren, mistaken for a police siren, was heard and since ol' dude already had a few priors, he quickly jumped up and headed back over to the basketball court to act as if nothing was wrong.

"Punk @$$! I knew he won't isht!", Mark laughed as he turned around to join his boys.

"C'mon, yall! I say we get goin' while the gettin' is good!", Rufus chuckled with a shake of his head. "I need to go home and calm Laila down!", he joked as he grabbed Mina around the waist as they headed over to his ride.

"Ya know! I gotta calm Laila #2 down too!", Mark laughed as he and Carlise both walked hand-in-hand to his ride.

"Well, c'mon Laila #3!", Tamir joked as he opened his door for Desiree to climb in his ride.

As soon as he climbed behind the wheel to leave, Desiree noticed that his face took on a look of anger. He became heated again when he thought about how ol' dude had disrespected her. However, as soon as he started his SUV up and The L.O.X.'s "Ryde or Die Chick" blasted from the system, he and Desiree looked at each other and fell out laughing.

"Spooky ain’t it?", he laughed as he pulled out of his parking space.

"Whateva!", Desiree laughed with a shake of her head.

"Do you feel like goin' down to the harbor for a while?", he asked after glancing over at her.

"Okay...that's coo'.", she agreed with a nod of her head.

A few minutes later, Rufus and Mina were still hanging out at the park in his ride. He noticed one of his homeboys on the basketball court as he was driving past it and decided to talk to him through his window. That's when Mina saw Shannon, Tani, and some other girl nearby beginning to run their mouths at her.

"Cufk this isht! I'm gettin' ready to whup they @$$es again!", Mina yelled as she began to open her door. However, Rufus quickly put the child locks on so she couldn't get out.

"Keep yo @$$ in here!", he laughed while shaking his head at her.

"Yeah, well whateva! All I know is they betta be glad I can't get outta this car to light into they @$$es!", she shouted through her cracked window while glaring at them. She kept cussing and fussing with them about cufking with her home girl until Rufus decided to cut his conversation short with his boy so he could take her home.

"Dn, na! Was she a thug with a scarf on when you met her?", his boy joked as he gave Rufus a pound.

"Shut up, man!", Rufus laughed as he began to drive away.

"This is nice.", Desiree sighed as she and Tamir stood on the dock while looking out at the water before them.

"Yeah.", he smiled as he tightened his arm around her shoulder.

For a few minutes as they stood in silence, Desiree dwelled on whether or not she should ask him something that she felt she deserved to know. "If I don't ask now, I might not have anotha chance.", she thought to herself. She loudly cleared her throat.

"Mir. How did you end up with her in the first place?", she asked with a look of sadness and confusion on her face.

He was speechless for a moment after being caught off guard by her question.

"Ummm...well, it was durin' the time that I asked you for space in the beginnin’ of our relationship. I'ono...one thing led to anotha and the next thing I know, she and I hooked up with each otha. But that was only after I thought that you and I were about to be ova." A look of embarrassment and hurt came over his face.

"So how come you were still seein' her after we overcame our obstacles?", she asked as bitter tears of betrayal and hurt began to roll down her cheeks in a non-stop flow.

"Maybe we should leave this in the past.", he whispered while trying to hold back his own tears. It hurt him to see Desiree hurt.

"No, I wanna know because I feel like this is the only way we'll be able to move forward, Mir. So why were you still seein' her?", Desiree pleaded.

"Because I was a dumb @$$! That's why! Dt, Ray, the last thing I wanted to do was hurt you, but it wasn't as easy for me to get out of that isht as I thought it would be!", he cried as he pulled her into his arms. "Neva again in life will I make a stupid decision like that! I love you too much!!!"

A little while later when he dropped her off at her place, he felt like she wanted to end their relationship because she didn't have anything to say except goodbye when she climbed out of his ride. He watched her as she walked up the sidewalk to her place. When he noticed her close the door without waving at him like she'd normally do, he felt for certain that she wanted to end things with him. However, on the other side of the door, she watched through her peephole as he drove away. She was hoping that he was going to come in.

When she stepped into her bedroom, she decided to call her girls to talk with them, but she couldn't get an answer from neither one. They had decided to catch a movie. She then proceeded to lie down across her bed to take a nap.

"W'sup, na! You got your girl calm now?", Larry laughed when he opened his door for Tamir.

"I'ono, man.", he sighed with a shrug of his shoulders as he joined him in the den along with the other guys who were sitting around watching tv.

"What's wrong?", Larry asked as they all quieted down.

"I think it's officially ova between us.", Tamir sadly stated with a shake of his head.

"She broke up with you for good now?!", Rufus asked in a state of shock. "I mean, dn! Yall seemed so happy with each other today!"

"Nah, she didn't have to say it. We went down to the harbor to talk and she wanted to know how did I hook up with Tani and I told her the truth. Needless to say, she became upset about it although I told her I love her so much that I would be a dumb @$$ to do somethin' like that to her again.", Tamir replied.

"Well if she didn't actually say it, there's nothin' to worry about.", James stated.

"I'ono...like I said she was pretty upset.", Tamir stated with a shake of his head.

"Man, that would be anybody! Look, c'mon...shake that off! Let me whup yo @$$ with this new video game I picked up yesterday!", Larry smiled as he nudged Tamir with his elbow.

"Nah, I think I'll pass for now.", Tamir faintly smiled. James quickly volunteered to take his place.

The entire time that the guys played and cheered, Tamir sat in a sulken mood while thinking about Desiree. A few minutes later, he stood up and walked outside on the patio to clear his head. When Mark saw where he was headed, he followed behind him.

At first, Mark wondered whether or not to disturb Tamir when he saw him sitting on the steps with his head in his hands.

"W'sup, man!", he stated after deciding to go ahead and join him. When Tamir didn't answer, he went on some more.

"Look, man...you're worryin' over absolutely nothin'! Like Ru said, it's obvious that Ray loves you! After all that's happened, she's still here for you and is right beside you. Face it, Mir...she loves you...no doubt!", Mark smiled.

Tamir begin to smile as well although he still had his doubts. "I'ono, man...", he started before his phone rang. It was Desiree who asked him to come over after she began to think about everything that had happened between her and him when she woke up from her nap about an hour later.

"That was Ray. I'ma get ready to be out since she wants to see me.", Tamir smiled.

"Aight, dawg! Well take care!", Mark grinned as he gave him a pound.

Desiree was still lying in bed while on the verge of crying when she heard Tamir walking into her room. She quickly sat up and faced him as he stood in the doorway.

"Mir...juss hold me.", she whispered as she held her arms out to him. Without hesitation, he quickly walked over to her bed and pulled her into his arms and rocked her as she cried until she finally fell asleep.

"You know I've been thinkin' about somethin'.", Mark smiled as he held Carlise in his arms.

"What?", she smiled as she looked up at him.

"I think our weddin' should take place outside on a countryside somewhere with juss our immediate family and friends. What'chu think?", he asked.

"That's so sweet! Ya know I was thinkin' almost the same thing with the exception of it bein' outside. I was thinkin' how much I would love a small and intimate weddin'.", she grinned as she sat up to kiss him on the forehead before snuggling back up in his arms. "You have a place in mind on where it should take place?"

"Yeah, I was thinkin' about flyin' us all down to Costa Rica and holdin' our nuptials on a mountainside. The scenery will only make you that more beautiful and our day more special.", he grinned.

"Okay...now see...I was about ready to go to sleep but you've changed those plans for anotha few minutes.", she giggled as she wrapped her arms around his neck after reaching over and turning off the lamp on the nightstand.

Conclusion…
Desiree was sitting in Tamir's den holding Tiffany on her lap while watching tv. During a commercial break when an EPT commercial was shown, she began to sob uncontrollably. Although it had been several weeks since her miscarriage, it hadn't really hit her until now. And to make matters worse, she thought about how Tanisha had lied to Tamir about being pregnant knowing that he had had his heart set on having a child. Then Desiree became angry when she realized that if it hadn't been for the stress that she went through because of Tanisha, she might not have lost the baby. She laid down across the sofa and proceeded to scream and cry even harder while Tiffany whimpered while watching her.

At that precise moment, Tamir came into the house after hanging out with James and Rufus at the gym earlier in the evening. When he heard Desiree heavily weeping, he quickly ran into the den where he heard her cries coming from.

"Ray? What's wrong?!!", he asked as he ran to her side.

"Mir, I'm so sorry! I'm unfit to love!", she shrieked and cried as he pulled her up to hold in his arms.

"Don't say that! You are not unfit!", he loudly replied above her cries while rocking her back and forth and rubbing her back.

"I am! I couldn't even have a baby for you!!! I messed that up by losin' it! Then I ran you away and I know I haven't been perfect! Maybe that's why I couldn't have the baby!", she wailed as she held on tightly to him.

"Ray! Stop it right now! I love you and there's nothin' that will eva come in between us again!!! As far as the baby, we can always have anotha one, aight?", he replied as he held her face in his hands so she could look at him.

"No we can't! I told you that you don't have to love me anymore! I'm not meant for anyone to love me!", she sobbed as she held her head downward.

"Ray! Listen to me!!! You wanna know how much I love you, boo?", he smiled. Before she could answer, he knelt down on one knee in front of her and took her hand in his. "After I left the gym, I went to pick somethin' up."

While wiping her tears away with her free hand, Desiree saw him reach into the pocket of his jeans. He pulled a blue velvet box out and opened it.

"Desiree Reynolds, will you marry me and allow me to love you for the rest of my life?", he grinned.

She could only smile and nod her head yes as he began to slip the ring on her finger. Once he had done this, he stood up and pulled her into his arms and they proceeded to share a warm embrace while both shedding tears of happiness.
