I haven't sat down to write in too long, but this just came out one night and I wanna know if I should take it further. It's all pretty much self-explanatory..try n guess which member of Dru it's about
“Put your hands up, it’ll be easier that way.” He told her.
“Ok, but I don’t know how long I can keep it up. Aren’t you done yet?”
“No. Just a little more.”
A sparkling bead of sweat ran down his cheek. He was so meticulous at this, taking his time until he was completely satisfied. Frankly, she grew tired of it. This ritual gave her no enjoyment at all, but she did it to please him. She’d do anything to please him.
“You’re so funny when you make that face.”
“I’m trying to concentrate. I almost had it! Now I gotta do it all over again.”
He smiled looking up at her. She just couldn’t say no to those deeply dark brown eyes.
“You know you like it.”
“Whatever.” She lied.
In truth, she’d take any opportunity to get close to him. He gave it one final effort and pulled it out. Standing back, he examined his work with a smile so full of approval it made her blush. She glanced at the mirror standing in front of her.
“It’s perfect.”
“Not quite, but it’ll do.”
She got off the chair and wiped the sweat off her forehead.
“So how many more fittings do I have to endure before you start paying me?”
“Well, when somebody actually buys my s***, maybe I can start by paying off some of my debts, then we’ll talk about salary.”
He smirked and started putting away some threads and needles. She raised her left eyebrow and crossed her arms.
“Ha ha! That’s the ad picture right there.” He laughed making a frame with his fingers.
“What you talking about, ads, you should start by doing a showcase and inviting some distributors before thinking about foldouts.”
“You’re absolutely right Taj, lemme dial up Phat Farm right now and let them know my fall collection is ready.”
He was always so sarcastic. Not in a bitter way, he simply laughed off his troubles. She found it a bit cowardly, like he wasn’t facing the truth. He looked at her now with complete seriousness.
“I’m not ready yet.”
“Dufus! Yes you are! Look at these designs! They’re new, innovative, but not wacky..”
“Wacky?? Hahahaha!”
“You know what I mean! People will buy this. But you’re too…afraid.”
“Not afraid! Just…not ready yet.”
And with that he turned around and left the room. Taj sighed.
“Hey look I didn’t mean it like that! Don’t act all hurt and s***!” she yelled out to him.
“I left so you can change dumbass!”
“Oh.”
He needed an air conditioner, she thought taking off the pants he’d just been altering. Then again he also needed a working toilet, a TV and a bed.
“How can he live in this dump?” she whispered to herself putting on her sweats.
“Not a dump! This is a STUDIO apartment, it’s supposed to look…”
“Ghetto?”
“Work in progress, ok?”
“Right, work in progress…K, I gotta go.”
“Nooo! Whyyy! Staay!” he begged her.
“Hey man, some people gotta work, right! Now you go back to your pants.”
“My pants need no further work done.”
“The men’s are a lil tight, in my opinion.”
“That’s just how I like my men.”
The look he had when he uttered that line just said it all. She hated being reminded why she could never have him. She let out a fake laugh and left.
