Teen Trashes Home with Pals, Feigns Robbery
BERLIN (Reuters) - A German teen-ager reported a break-in at his smashed-up home only for police to discover he had made the mess himself partying with friends while his parents were on holiday, authorities said Monday.
"The young man hit upon the idea of faking a robbery because he hadn't managed to tidy up before his parents got back," said a police spokesman in the southern town of Ingolstadt.
Police said the 16-year-old confessed to the deception under questioning after investigations revealed nothing had been stolen from the wreckage-strewn rooms. He now faces possible prosecution for faking a crime and the wrath of his returning parents.
