If I Could-Part II

Scola woke up the next morning to the sound of a motorcycle. He looked out the window of his room as he saw Tabby pull out of her grandmother's driveway.
"I don't know why I have such an urgency to apologize, but I'm gonna do it today!" He said to himself. He hopped in the shower and when he stepped out he could smell his grandmother's cooking through the bathroom door.
Woody was already up and sitting at Scola's grandmothers kitchen table, when Scola walked in. Where's mama? He said as he heaped some breakfast on his plate.
"She went to the store. She said she'll be back in a few." Woody said.
Just as Scola sat down to eat, He heard the sound of Tabby's motorcycle. Scola jumped up out of his seat almost knocking his breakfast over.
"You alright man?" Woody said as he gave him a serious look.
"Yeah!" Scola said as he gained his composure and sat back down.
"I just want to get this off my chest, I feel bad about it, and it happened long ago! I just don't like having people on my bad side." Scola said.
"Aight man, do what you gotta do! I know I need to apologize. I am right behind you." Woody said.

Meanwhile, Tabby had just pulled into her grandmother's driveway when she say a black Excursion pull in front of Scola's grandmother's house.
She didn't pay it any attention.
Nokio had just pulled in front of Scola's grandmother's house when he saw a female walk from her bike and he was looking hard.
"She looks kinda familiar." He said as he watched her go into garage.
Scola and Woody had noticed the black Excursion and they both went on to the porch. Tabby came out of the garage with some cleaning supplies to clean her bike. Just then a dark blue Maxima pulled up in front of her.
Nokio was still seated inside his vehicle when the dark blue Maxima pulled up. A brown skinned man, built like a football player stepped out of the car with bags in his hand.
"Tabitha!" he said and Tabby looked up from wiping her bike down.
"Oh hey Nick!" She said as she put on a big smile. Nick looked around and so Woody and Scola on the porch and started talking loudly.
"Hey now!" Here are some things I picked up from the store for you and SOME THINGS YOU LEFT OVER MY HOUSE THE OTHER DAY!" Nick said as he handed the stuff over to Tabby.
"Why are you so loud?" Tabby said with an attitude.
"I just gotta let 'em know." He said in a low voice.
Tabby shook her head.
"They ain't worried about me, YOU don't have anything to feel threatened about."
All the while, Woody and Scola were on the porch watching the whole thing go down.
"Who that n****a think he's foolin'? Scola said.
"He down their frontin' like he's somebody!" Woody said.
"She don't need no man like that!" Scola said.
Scola stood up and continued to check out the situation.
Meanwhile, Nokio was still in his suv and he was checking out the scene also. He was trying to place Tabby's face and he cracked his vehicles window when the blue Maxima pulled up. He heard him say Tabitha and he took a long hard look again.
"Oh my goodness!" He said to himself as all these memories flooded his mind.
"That was my girl in high school! She sure has changed!" He said as he laughed to himself.
Tabby and Nick exchanged hugs and a kiss and he pulled the blue Maxima away.
When Nick drove away, Tabby looked up and saw Scola staring at her. She felt and twinge of guilt but shook it off and continued to wipe down her bike.
Nokio then stepped out of his vehicle and set the alarm. He proceeded to walk over to Tabby, but she wasn't paying attention.
"Tabitha." Nokio said as he slowly approached her while she was cleaning her bike. Tabitha jumped and she turned around. She almost fell on the ground when she looked up.
"TTTAAAMMMIIIRRR!" She said as she caught her self and she and Nokio gave each other a long hug.
"It's been a long time!" Nokio said as he smiled ear to ear!
"It sure has! Everybody is calling you Nokio now!" Tabby said as she was smiling also.
Even though Nokio hanged with his brothers Scola, Jazz, Woody and Sisqo he wasn't the practical joker and sometimes cruel like the others. He and Tabby had been close in school because she had helped out in a few classes. In the beginning, Nokio was bad right along with the others, but since she helped him he took a liking to her and often got criticized for defending her.
Nokio and Tabby were getting reaquianted when she told him about the incident that had happened between her and the fellas at dinner last night.
"Aww they'll apologize!'' Nokio said with sympathy in his eyes.
"We'll see!" Tabby said.
Tabby and Nokio exchange numbers and said their good byes. Nokio proceeded across the street just as Sisqo and Jazz pulled up in Jazz's red Hummer.
They pulled up infront of Nokio's Excursion and they both got out. Sisqo spotted Tabby and said "Hey!"
Tabby said a faint "Hey." back to him and continued to clean her bike.
Jazz, Sisqo and Nokio met Woody and Scola on the porch. Nokio confronted all of them and said:
"Ya'll n****as need to apologize! Ya'll need to get ya'll a***s over there while ya'll have a chance!" It don't make no f*****g sense that ya'll had an opportunity and did not take it! All these f*****g years! She told me she'll being going back to medical school tomorrow, so take the opportunity today!" he said in a serious tone.
"You got all the info from that brief conversation?" Woody joked.
"Whatever." I'm serious. Apologize!" Nokio said.
Scola, Woody, Jazz and Sisqo all looked at Nokio like who he do he thinks he is talking to,and then they all looked at each other.
"Alright." Scola said as he started down the porch steps. " I need to get this off my chest anyway."
Jazz, Woody,and then Sisqo went behind him as Nokio watched from the porch.
Tabby saw them all come down the steps, except for Nokio.
"He must've set them straight." Tabby said as she and Scola's eyes met. Scola eyes briefly left her's and he checked to see if any cars were coming and he stepped out in the street.
He took about two steps and a speeding red drop top hooptie came out of nowhere and ran the stop sign. The driver of the car noticed at the last minute the Scola was in the street and swearved the car. Tabby saw it coming before Scola and jumped away from her bike.
The car tried to avoid Scola but it hit his right side and he hit the ground, hard. The car went into Tabby's grandmother's yard and knocked her bike over. Good thing she wasn't near her bike, she thought to herself, but she was concerned about Scola.
The driver and passenger of the drop top red hooptie tried to run away, but Jazz and Sisqo ran after them, caught them and pinned them down.
Meanwhile Woody was beside Scola checking to see if he was okay, and by then Nokio had ran down the porch stairs with cell phone in hand and called 911.
Tabby ran in the house and got some of her medical supplies and ran back out side to check Scola out.
Some of the neighbor's had came out side and asked if they could help and Scola's grandmother had pulled up from the store.
"Oh my baby!" She said when she saw Scola laid out on the ground. Scola had a big gash on his forhead and he was out cold.
Tabby checked him to see if he was breating and he wasn't. She checked his pulse and it was faint.
"Please hurry up ambulance!" She said as she started CPR on him.
About 1minute later the police pulled up and took the car's driver and passenger into custody, while Sisqo told them about the incident. The ambulance had pulled up about 30 seconds after that and stabilized Scola and gave him some oxygen because he had started to cough after Tabby had performed CPR.
Woody and Jazz were about to hop in the ambulance when Tabby spoke up and said "I'll go!"
So they let her go and she rode in the ambulance with Scola.

[glow=red,2,300]W[/glow]hen they arrived at the hospital's emergency room, they quickly rushed Scola back thru the doors. Tabby was running right behind them when a nurse stopped her.
"You can't go any further." The nurse said. She pointed Tabby to the waiting area. She sat down in a chair nearest to the emergency room doors. In about 2 mins Jazz, Sisqo, Nokio, Woody, JJ and Scola's grandma rushed thru the doors. Jazz, Scola's grandma and Sisqo went to the front desk and inquired about Scola's condition to the nurse. JJ spotted Tabby and gave her a warm hug. Nokio and Woody sat in chairs nearby.
"How was he the last time you saw him?" Nokio asked.
"He was breathing and he was talking." Tabby said faintly.
"Well that's good to hear. What did he say?"Woody said.
"Well.......he said he was sorry and he thanked me for saving him. But he could barely speak because he was gasping for air." Tabby said.
"Do you think he'll be alright, Doc?" Sisqo joked.
"I don't know.........I'm praying he'll be alright!" Tabby spoke lightly and she started to cry.
"What in the world? It's like the dam broke!" JJ said as he looked at her in surprise.
"For somebody who hates our guts, you sure don't seem like it!" Sisqo said.
"I still hate your guts!" Tabby said to Sisqo through her sobs. But it's hard to see somebody you loved for 3 years of your life in this situation."
JJ, Woody, Sisqo and Jazz looked at Tabby with astonishment.
"Run that by me again!" JJ said. Scola's grandmother just grinned. Nokio knew of it and he started grinning to.
"How did I not know this?'' Sisqo said.
"Some things ain't just meant for you to know, my brotha." Nokio joked.
"I'm in awe." Jazz said. "Well what happened? He held that back very well!"
"Well.......I'mma make a long story short. Scola used to hang with you all, the cruddy buddies I used to call ya'll." Tabby laughed. I used to kinda like him even though he acted silly like ya'll. But one day we went on a class trip to the skating rink. Scola couldn't skate for nothing!" She laughed as she thought to herself what happened. "I was the master skater, despite being clumsy in other things"....JJ lightly laughed and Tabby gave him a smirk. "....anyway, back to the story. Scola fell on his behind more than one time and he almost got ran over by some skaters". Even though I didn't want to help him, I helped up and we skated together for the rest of the trip. Tamir was there." Tabby said.
"Yes, I was!" Nokio said. "That's when Scola started liking her because he got to see how sweet she was!"
"Awww.......thank you Tamir!" Tabby said to him sweetly.
"Yeah, okay, what else!" Jazz said. Scola's grandmother jumped in," and he couldn't stop talking about her after that day!" she said.
Sisqo still had disbelief in his eyes. He said to Tabby "I can't believe this, he hid this from ME, his boy!" he said in a whiny voice.
"Alright! Let me wrap of the story. After that Scola used to write me letters. They first were general notes like, how ya doing and he thanked me for helping him. But then it got a little deeper. He started writing songs for me and we would sneak around the front of the school at lunch time, and after school. When he told you all he was going to an after school program, he was going with me.
"Man!" Woody said.
"Well, that's not the kicker!" Tabby laughed.
"Ya'll had sex in the school?" Sisqo said. Everybody looked at him.
"Noooo!" Tabby said, I wasn't even thinking about that. Our little fling was very innocent!" It's was like puppy love, the first love thing. The kicker was that he used to always slide my ponytail holder off my hair and run his fingers through it. He did that while he sang what he wrote to me. I was in heaven!"
"I didn't know about that!" Nokio said.
"I still don't know how he didn't tell us!'' Woody said.
"He was about to tell ya'll but then 'the hoe' came to school." Tabby said as her face turned to a frown.
"Oh yeah. The freaky deaky!" Jazz laughed.
"She loved her some Scola and weaseled him right away. He lost his virginity to her and after that he was whipped. I know ya'll remember that!" Tabby said.
"Oh yeah!" The fellas all mumbled, but Scola's grandmother spoke up. "I remember her! My baby was all twisted."
"And what he did to me in front of the school hurt me to the bone! I was so hurt. I didn't want to go to school. I was near depression." Tabby said. "And he was walking around like he was' the man', like we never existed. Ya'll was encouraging him, especially Mr. Freaky." Tabby looked at Sisqo.
"I'm sorry." Sisqo said. "I didn't know about all that. I was flowing in my hormones. I know this is probably the worst time to apologize but could you accept my apology?" Sisqo said as he walked over to Tabby's seat and went down on one knee and took her hand.

[glow=red,2,300]Tabby[/glow]looked at Sisqo to see if he was really sincere. She saw the sincerity and she accepted his apology. Then, Jazz and Woody came to Tabby's chair and knelt beside Sisqo. They both apologized to her and she accepted.
"Aww group hug!" Sisqo said. Tabby, Jazz, Woody and Sisqo all hugged each other and then she hugged them individually.
"Aww...ya'll making me cry!" Nokio said. A tear fell from Tabby's eye, and then someone came to the door to ask was anyone here for Rufus Waller.
They all said that they were and the doctor told them that Scola had taken a turn for the worst. Scola was in a coma.
"Noooo......not my baby!" Scola's grandmother wailed.
"Didn't you just say that he was talking?" Nokio said to Tabby.
"Yeah, he was!" Tabby started crying. Everyone in the lobby broke down.

When they all entered his room, all you could hear was the sound of beeping machines and Scola's light breathing. He had tubes sticking out of him. Scola's grandmother went to him first while everybody stood back near the door. She started to sob and say a little prayer for him. She then touched his hand. One by one, they all took their turn saying a prayer for him and just talking to him seeing if he woud come out of the coma.
He didn't have a tube to help him breathe, he was breathing by himself. Finally, Tabby was the last one to approach him. She sat down beside his hospital bed. She grabbed his hand. She thought she felt his hand jump, but thought it was her imagination. She put her mouth beside his ear as she said a prayer to him. She thought he saw his ear twitch, and she thought she was imagining things again.
As she was about to let go of his hand, his gripped tightened and his eyes fluttered open. Every body in the room started shouting, and ran over to his bed.
"Scola?" Sisqo said as everybody looked.
"Yeah?" He said as he looked around. He was about to sit up but he felt a sharp pain in his side and sank right down to the bed.
"You didn't walk in to the light?" Sisqo said.
Scola laughed. "No I was just sleeping." He said and he yauned.
"My angel woke me up, I was dreaming about her." Scola said and he looked at Tabby.
Scola's grandmother, in the meantime, had went and got the doctor. The doctor made everyone clear the room, while another doctor and 2 nurses went inside the room. They came out in about 10 minutes.
Scola's doctor then met them in the hallway. He said that Scola was alright. He also said that Scola had a bruised hip and bruised ribs and he got stitches in the right side of his forhead.
"He'll recover.'' the doctor said. "I don't know what you all did, but that's the shortest time that someone that I had as patient has been in a coma. That's a miracle right there!"
Jazz, Nokio, Woody, Sisqo, JJ, and Scola's grandmother looked at Tabby.
"There's the angel you're looking for." Scola's grandmother said.
"Hey, It wasn't me! That's God's doing!" Tabby said.

They all went into the room to see Scola. He was propped up on pillows. They all crowded around his bed and was asking him questions.
"I'm alright! Just a little sore."Scola said.
"I got an annoucement to make!" Scola said and he cleared his voice. "While everybody is here I would just like to apologize to Tabby and thank her for saving my life after all I did to her and the way I treated her, I would've hated to leave this world and have on my conscience the guilt that I feel."
"We apologized too!" Sisqo said. Scola looked at Sisqo, Woody and Jazz. He then looked at Nokio and he shook his head. "Yep, they did!" Nokio said.
Scola smiled. He looked at Tabby lovingly ,and everyone accept Tabby backed away from Scola's bed.

"Remember when I used to do this?" Scola looked at Tabby. Her hair was pulled in a ponytail to the side and slid off he scrunchie. He then he took his fingers and ran them through her hair.
"She wasn't lying!" Sisqo thought he whispered but Scola heard.
"Oh, she told you the story?" Scola said as he was still running his fingers through her hair.
"Yeah." Sisqo said as he and the other continued to stare at the sight. You could see the chemistry between them, you could feel the attraction in the air. And then, Scola started to sing in his sweet tenor one of the songs that he sang to her when they used to hang.
"Oh my, I'm about to cry!" Sisqo said.
"I think it's time for us to go. Are sure you are okay my baby!" Scola's grandmother said.
"Yeah, I'm good.!" Scola smiled and his grandmother gave him a hug and kiss and all the fellas gave him a hug also.
"Don't stay too late!" Nokio said as he was the last one to walk out the door and closed the door behind him.
Scola was still running his fingers through Tabby's hair and he started to sing the song. When he finished, Tabby grabbed his hand.
"Are you for real?" She asked him.
"My love for you never went away, you were my first love. Scola said.
"But what about........"Tabitha said, but Scola cut her off.
He put his finger on her lips to silence her.
"That's the past." he said. "We can start new now."
Just then the nurse came in and said that visiting hours are over. Tabby looked at Scola.
"I've gotta go!" She said. Her emotions were all over the place. Scola still loved her and she realized she still loved him too.
They gave each other a warm hug. Scola grabbed her hand and kissed it.
"Please say you'll come visit me tomorrow!" Scola said.
" I have to go back to school tomorrow....umm....i'll try. she said. Tabby was thinking back to her boyfriend and Scola. She was confused. She wanted to run fast out of the room. She was really confused.
"Oh, I understand." Scola said. Tabby reached for the door handle and slowly opened the door. She looked at Scola. He had sincerity in his eyes. Tabby smiled back at Scola and closed the door behind her.

Tabby woke up and looked at the clock. It said 8:30am.
After the phone had rang three times, she slowly picked up the receiver.
"Hello." she said in a sleepy voice.
"Hey, wake up." said the other voice on the line. Tabby was still half sleep.
"This is JJ girl, wake up!" JJ said.
"N****a why you callin' me so early?" Tabby said.
"Scola wanna talk to you." JJ said. He had just came from his night job and stopped by to visit Scola at the hospital.
"Alright, is he ok?" Tabby said.
"Yeah. Hold on." JJ said. He handed Scola the phone.
"You still comin' right?" Scola asked.
"No, good morning, How ya doing?" Tabby said.
"I'm sorry boo! I just wanna see you." Scola said.
"Yeah, I guess." she said. Tabby was still debating about going.
"You don't sound to sure." Scola said.
"I'll be there." Tabby said.
"Okay, what time? Scola said.
"Scola, you buggin out!" Tabby said.
"Okay, I'll be here!" Scola said.
"I'll see you later." Tabby said. They both hung up the phone.
Tabby plopped down on her bed and put the pillow over her face. She was nervous and confused. She didn't want to get her hopes up with Scola and then get let down again. Just then her grandmother knocked on the door.
"Hey, I see you're up." she said.
"Yeah, G-Ma I'm up." Tabby said.
"I heard about you and Rufus." G-Ma said.
"Yeah, I know!" Tabby said and she blushed. G-Ma started to laugh.
"You know I got to cleaning out some of your old stuff and I came across a baseball cap Rufus gave you and a letter." G-Ma said.
"Huh?" Tabby said. "I thought I burned all his letters." Tabby laughed.
"I guess you forgot one." G-Ma said. She handed the cap and letter to Tabby.
"You know G-Ma, I was just debating about going to see him. You know about my boyfriend. I'm just confused." Tabby said.
"Honey, you ain't married!" G-Ma said. "There is no ties that are binding you. I remember when ya'll were young and used to act like you all were just doing homework. I knew the both of you were faking." G-Ma said.
"Not all the time!" Tabby said and she laughed.
"Well, all I have to say is that the both of you had good chemistry then and you shouldn't deny it. At least try." G-Ma said.
"I'll try." Tabby said.
G-Ma and Tabby hugged and G-Ma went out of Tabby's room. Tabby finished packing her stuff and made her way to the hospital to visit Scola.

Tabby reached the hospital and she looked at her watch. It read 11:00. She reached Scola's room and she was a bundle of nerves. She knocked on the door and then turned the handle. She quietly stepped in the room and saw him sleeping. She walked over to his bed and gave him a kiss on his cheek. Scola opened his eyes and looked at Tabby.
"You caught me sleeping." Scola said. Tabby smiled.
"How are you feeling?" Tabby said.
"Much better!" I'm not as sore as yesterday. I have been walking around a little bit." Scola said.
"That's good!" Tabby said.
They stared at each other. Scola could tell that she was a little nervous.
"Are you okay?" Scola said as he touched her hand.
"Yeah...umm......I have something to show you." Tabby said.
Tabby walked over to her bag and pulled out the letter and the hat. She walked over to Scola and handed him the letter and the hat. A smile crossed Scola's face. He picked up the hat and put it on his head. He opened the letter and started to read.
"To my one and only! I love you! Do you love me? Write back!" Scola read the letter and then laughed. Tabby laughed and joked about the baseball cap he had on his head.
"Your head got bigger when you started messing with "the ho"! Tabby said.
"Aww there you go again! Scola said. "Let it go! That was high school and I am a grown man now! I know what I want and I usually get it." He said and he looked lustfully at Tabby.
Tabby looked away and got up from beside Scola's bed. She walked to the nearest window and looked out. She could see the skyline of Baltimore and the bright sun and blue skies. She could see for miles. She was so focused on looking out the window she didn't notice that Scola had gotten out of his bed and stood behind her.
"It's a beautiful day! Thank God I am able to see it." Scola said. Tabby was startled and jumped. She turned around .
"Boy, what you doing out that bed? You need to........."
Before she could finish Scola hugged her to him and gave her a gentle peck on her lips. Tabby was suprised.
"But I have a boyfriend!" she said.
"Kick that clown to the curb!"Scola said. Before Tabby could respond, Scola passionate kissed her and Tabby knees went weak,but Scola held her tight in his arms.
"Are you convinced yet?" Scola said.
"Umm.......yeah. He's to the curb!" Tabby said.
The kissed again. While they were kissing, Tabby's alarm on her watch went off. She pulled away from Scola and looked at the time. An hour had went by that fast!
"I gotta go Scola! I have a class at 4 o'clock and I gotta go all the way to New Jersey! Tabby said with regret in her eyes.
"I'll miss you and good luck in school." Scola said.
They both hugged each other and kissed again. Scola went back to his bed and laid down.
"I'll miss you to!" Tabby said.
"Oh hold up!" Scola said. "I gotta keep in contact with you. Let's exchange info!"
Tabby walked back to Scola and they exchanged info.
Scola sneaked another kiss on Tabby's lips and they exchanged goodbyes and Tabby hurried out of Scola's room and was on the road to school.

Six months later Dru Hill's tour overseas was over and they were resting at Scola's grandmother house, again. Well, they were minus Nokio again, he was coming later because he had some A&R business to take care of.
Tabby graduated from medical school, but they couldn't be there because they were on tour. They sent their congratulations to her on video, and she definitely appreciated it. Tabby and Scola constantly were in touch, by email and phone. Tabby kicked her boyfriend to the curb, but not because of Scola. She caught him cheating. When she had told Scola, he said "I told you he was a clown!" She just had to laugh.
Tabby was temporarily staying with her grandmother until she found her own place. She choose to come back and live in Baltimore and she started her residency and John Hopkins hospital.
Scola and the boys were chilling at grandma's table playing cards when they heard the roar of the motorcycle. They all looked at each other. They all got out of their seats and looked out of the window to see if it was Tabby.
It was JJ on a bike. He was so interested in bikes from seeing Tabby, he decided to buy one for himself. Just then a late model red Camry pulled up behind JJ and the driver blew the horn. The driver rolled down the window. It was Tabby. Scola and the boys noticed that she said something to JJ and he put his middle finger up at her.
"Let's go and see what the commotion is all about." Sisqo said.
They bolted out of Scola's grandma's house and by that time Tabby had gotten out of the car and started arguing with JJ. She was so heated that she didn't notice Sisqo, Woody, Jazz and Scola approach them.
"Hey! What's the problem!" Sisqo said in a policeman like voice. Tabby stopped in mid sentence from yelling at JJ and turned around about to get someone a peace of her mind for interupting her and JJ arguing.
She looked around and saw them. She was suprised to see them.
"There you go with that attitude!" Jazz said.
"You think you can handle that?" Woody said to Scola.
"But of course!" Scola joked and he walked over to Tabby.
A smile came across Tabby's face and she forgot what she was arguing about. Scola and Tabby hugged each other tightly and the kissed each other deeply.
Sisqo, Woody, Jazz and JJ stood there in awe. Just then, Nokio pulled up, this time in a silver colored Benz. When he saw all the commotion he quickly parked the car and got out and ran to just in time to see Scola and Tabby kissing. Nokio smiled.
