"Ooh my feet hurt." complained Justice. She and her bestfriend, Whitney, had just gotten back home from shopping all day. They figured they had been good girls throughout the week, so why not spoil themselves.

"I know, remind me never to shop in heels ever again." said Whitney taking off her shoes.

"I told you not to put them things on to begin with, you were the one who wanted to look all cute." said Justice putting her bags to the side of the couch.

"Shut-up, hell I'm trying to gets me man. Not everybody got one of them long ass relationships like you do." said Whitney looking through one of her many bags.

"Anyway, speaking of which, I wonder where he is. He said he'd be home by the time I got here."

"He's probably chilling with James and them."

"He's been a little different lately."

"How so?"

"Distant. You know, just like he's blowing me off."

"Ruby." said Whitney. Ruby was Justices' childhood nickname. She got the name because whenever she'd got mad or embarrassed her cheeks would turn ruby red.

"What?" said Ruby.

"I know you don't think Marcus is cheating on you."

"I don't know."

"Ruby, y'all have been together for what, seven years now. I doubt he'd up and do something like that."

"I know, it's just a gut feeling that I have."

"Well get rid of it. That n**** aint stupid enough to do some s*** like that."

"Yeah, you're right. My baby love me."

"You damn skippy." said Whitney just as the phone rang.

"Hello." said Ruby picking up her phone.

"Hey Ruby Red, where's your man at?" asked Larry. Ruby knew it was him cause he was the only one who actually calls her Ruby Red.

"Hey Larry, I don't know I thought he was with you." said Ruby looking at Whitney.

"Nah, I haven't seen that n**** since yesterday afternoon. He aint called you?" asked Larry. Larry was completely in love with her. He always thought he was the perfect man for her, but she met Marcus and fell head over heels for him.

"Yeah earlier when I was at the mall with Whit, I wonder where he could be." said Ruby. Her thoughts were running wild with thoughts of what he might be doing.

"Oh well he's probably on his way home then, when he gets in tell him to call me. Me and the boys wanted to know if he wanted to ball today." said Larry.

"Okay, I'll let him know."

"Hey, how have you been?"

"Oh good, still trying to put up with this here asthma."

"Aww, po baby. She over there wheezing and s***." laughed Larry.

"Shut-up!" giggled Ruby, she loved to talk to Larry, he always made her laugh. She always thought he was a sweet guy. At one point she caught herself having feelings for him, but she met Marcus.

"I'mma start calling you Wheezy." laughed Larry.

"Do it I'mma kill ya." laughed Ruby.

"Aww come on Wheezy. Oh we're moving on up, to the eastide, to a deluxe apartment in the skyyyyy." sang Larry. The whole time Ruby was cracking up.

"What's so funny?" asked Whitney, after all she wanted to laugh too.

"Nothing girl. He's just being stupid." said Ruby still laughing.

"Oh so now I'm stupid." said Larry.

"Hey if the shoe fits..." said Ruby.

"Hey n**** come on, we gon ball or what!" shouted Tamir from the background.

"Was that Tamir?" asked Ruby.

"You already know." said Larry shooting Tamir an angry look for pressuring him off the phone.

"Tell him I said what's up." said Ruby.

"Aight, yo punk, Ruby said what's up." shouted Larry back to Tamir.

"Oh that's Ruby, tell her I said what's up." said Tamir. He loved Ruby too, but not in that way. As a matter of fact they all loved Ruby. They each thought that she and Larry should be together.

"He said what's up, but hey Ruby Red, I'mma have to check you later aight." said Larry as he saw the rest of the guys walking over.

"Okay then, tell the rest of them fools I said what's up." said Ruby.

"Aight, bye wheezy." said Larry as he whispered that last part.

"I heard that! Bye punk!" laughed Ruby as she hung up her phone, "That n**** crazy."

"I know right but you gotta love him." said Whitney.

"Yep, can't help but to."

"Do you have to go?" asked Alicia as she watched Marcus get dressed.

"Yes, I told her I'd be home by now." said Marcus. He had been with Alicia all morning. The entire time he was with her, Ruby was blowing up his phone.

"Why do you have to keep going back to her?" asked Alicia as she wrapped the sheet around her.

"Cause I got to keep up appearances." said Marcus as he put on his shoes.

"Why? You told me you don't love her anymore, so why do you have to keep up appearances? What you lying to me?"

"No Licia, you know I love you. I just need to do this until I leave her."

"Well you need to hurry up. I'm sick of waiting."

"Don't worry baby, you won't have to wait too much longer."

"Good."

"I'mma see you later boo." said Marcus as he kissed her on her forehead.

"Okay boo." said Aliclia.

Marcus then proceeded to grab his keys and leave. The truth of the matter is, Ruby was the only girl Marcus had ever been with. They had been together for the past seven years. Around last year he started to feel trapped. So, he decided to go and see what else is out there.

Problem is, he had been with Ruby for so long that he didn't actually know how to tell her that he wanted something else. So he decided to cheat. He figured what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her. Only he found something he wasn't looking for. He fell in love with another woman.

He met Alicia through his cousin Lamar. He and Lamar had been hanging out at bar one night, when Alicia recognized Lamar and came over to say hello. Marcus became attracted to her immediately. He went home with her number that night. Two days later, they slept together.

All this happened two months ago and Marcus still hadn't the guts to tell Ruby. But he was starting to fall for Alicia and wanted her more and more everyday. Sooner or later he was gonna tell Ruby. But he doesn't know how soon it's actually gonna be.

"Hey Ruby, hey Whitney." said Marcus as he walked into his house.

"Hey love, where you been?" asked Ruby standing to hug him.

"Oh I was hanging with Lamar. You know how he get sometimes." lied Marcus as he checked his answering machine.

"Oh no one left any messages, but Larry did call and say that he wanted to know if you wanted to play basketball with them. But that was two hours ago."

"Oh, well I'll catch up to them n****s later then. s*** right now I'm tired."

"You've been tired a lot lately."

"Yeah, you know I've been working hard."

"I know, it just seems like it's taking a toll on you." said Ruby. When she looked over at Whitney, she saw that she was shaking her head warning her not to go there.

"Well s*** I got to work." said Marcus with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"Why are you getting upset? I'm just looking out for you." said Ruby noticing his tone.

"Well I'm fine, I just need to rest." said Marcus walking upstairs.

"I told you to leave it alone." said Whitney.

"Shut-up Whit, but do you see what I'm talking about?" asked Ruby.

"Well hell, you jumped down his throat as soon as he came in." said Whitney.

"I just asked where he was and why he looked so tired."

"Exactly, girl you need to back off some."

"Oh and this coming from the girl who has no man." said Ruby.

"Shut-up!" said Whitney throwing a pillow at her.

"Quit playing, but anyway, something's wrong. I just need to know what it is." said Ruby throwing the pillow back.

"You know curiosity killed the cat."

"I know, but something's up and I have to take that risk."

"Somebody's head wasn't in the game today." said James tossing Larry a bottled water.

"I know right, that n****s game wasn't no where near on point." said Mark taking a gulp of his water.

"Hey, we all have our bad days." said Larry.

"I wonder why." said Rufus drenching himself with the water he had.

"I know, I bet it had something to do with him talking to Ruby before he played." said Tamir.

The guys had just gotten done playing a few hours of basketball. But Larry for some reason couldn't seem to focus on the game.

"Man, Ruby aint have nothing to do with the way I played." said Larry knowing it was. Ever since he talked to her he couldn't take his mind off of her.

"Right." said the guys in unison.

"She's not."

"Okay so you saying you naturally suck like that." said James.

"Hell naw!"

"So it is because of Ruby." said Rufus.

"So what if it is."

"Man, don't trip. We all know yo ass is sprung on her." said Tamir.

"Aight, yeah. I do believe she should be with me. But that don't mean she blocked my games tonight."

"Stop denying it, we aint gon clown you. We know how you feel about her. Truthfully we all think you should be with her." said Mark.

"I know, I mean Marcus is cool and all, but you should be with her." said Rufus.

"s*** you aint even got to tell me. But hey, I aint hating on that n****, I just hope he knows what he got."

"Yeah, cause we all know you quick to jump in if he don't." said James.

"Shut-up! But yeah, if it was supposed to be then something will happen. But seeing as how it's been seven years, I doubt it."

"Don't give up hope, y'all get to each other somehow." said Tamir.

"Yeah well I hope you right. But in the mean time, I'mma keep a look out for other potentials."
